Let there be Light.
~ God

God (also called The Creator and The Almighty) is the omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, genderless soul who created the universe and is the originator of all that exists, and is a important character in the Darkness comics series

Overview

It was God who allowed The Angelus into the Earth and separated her from The Darkness. It is worshiped in one way or another by Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc. The Vatican is known as the center of God's worshipers and are known to have committed many atrocities in Its name, such as The Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, and more.

The character of God is incredibly nebulous in the world of The Darkness. Before the Creation, there was nothingness, embodied by what is currently known as the Darkness. When God introduced Creation, and separated the Dark from the Light, the Darkness became angry, and decided to vengefully destroy as much of creation as it could, and thus began to plague the Earth since the dawn of time.

God, in Its turn, tasked the Angelus, the Darkness' opposite and nemesis, along with other individuals such as Cain and Moses, to oppose the Darkness too.

In Video Game series

Through the various relics in The Darkness II, it is possible to gauge some of God's attempts to influence the war with the Darkness. Although rarely helpful or generous, God does bestow gifts upon his representatives, such as deathlessness to Cain, or the weapons Af and Hema given to the Angelus, but usually at a price.
