Something funny going on. You better check.
~ Godzilla sending Anguirus to investigate the incident in Tokyo.
Hey, Anguirus, come on! There's a lot of trouble ahead! Let's hurry!
~ Godzilla.

The Second Godzilla (ゴジラ, Gojira) is an irradiated prehistoric amphibious reptile kaiju who first appeared in the 1955 film, Godzilla Raids Again. He was originally the main antagonist of the Showa era until his change in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster where he eventually became the titular main protagonist for the remainder of the series and fought to protect the world from various threats, mostly extraterrestrials. Along with that, he would gain partnerships with other monsters like Anguirus and Rodan.

In the first 12 movies of the Godzilla franchise, the Showa incarnation of the kaiju character was portrayed by the late Haruo Nakajima, Katsumi Tezuka for stunts in 3 movies, Shinji Takagi in Godzilla vs. Megalon, the late Seiji Onaka and Hiroshi Sekita in Son of Godzilla, Isao Zushi in Zone Fighter and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla and the late Toru Kawai in Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Origin[]

In the Showa series, the second Godzilla is another individual of the same species as the original Godzilla that attacked Tokyo in 1954. Similar to the previous one, this Godzilla was awakened by a U.S. hydrogen bomb trial in the Pacific Ocean, leading to him consuming vast quantities of radiation and forcing him out of his usual underwater environment.

Personality[]

The Second Godzilla started off as destructive monster who indiscriminately attacked and even killed other monsters, like Anguirus, and caused destruction as well. He has hated mankind, and remained a villain until Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, where Godzilla begins his role as a heroic monster as he joins forces with Mothra and Rodan to fight off the evil space monster King Ghidorah. According to Mothra's Shobijin's translation of Mothra, Rodan and Godzilla's conversation, Godzilla only "hates humans because they hate him", suggesting that Godzilla never had any true malicious intent but was only reacting to constantly being attacked by humans that explained odds between him and mankind. Rodan later agrees with Godzilla's statement.

In subsequent films in the 1960s, Godzilla became less villainous and would do battle with much more malicious and dangerous creatures such as King Ghidorah, Ebirah, and Kumonga. In the film Son of Godzilla, Godzilla discovers an infant member of his species named Minilla, which he decides to raise as a son and train to take up his mantle. Godzilla's loyalty and love for Minilla eventually leads to him becoming a primarily heroic, charming, and sympathetic character. Over time, he learned to forgive humans and grew to be more compassionate and devoted to their well-being.

Godzilla would soon become full fledged hero who consciously chooses to defend the planet from any destroyers or conquerors. Godzilla seems to be on good terms with humans, as he waved back at the humans who waved at him in Zone Fighter and chose to save them in Godzilla vs. Hedorah. Godzilla will also ally himself with the JSDF if needed, and is quite rescuing, as he came to Jet Jaguar's aid against Gigan and Megalon and also saved his life when Gigan held him hostage. Whenever the planet was in danger, Godzilla would constantly rise up and arrive in Japan to defend humanity from evil beings, most of them being extraterrestrial. Over the years, Godzilla solidified his position as the ultimate king of the monsters, forming new partnerships with creatures such as Anguirus and King Caesar. Additionally, he became a father to Minilla and trained him to follow in his footsteps. Aside from his skill in hand-to-hand combat, Godzilla frequently demonstrated the ability to coordinate attacks with his kaiju allies, including Rodan, Anguirus, Jet Jaguar, and King Caesar.

History[]

Godzilla Raids Again[]

Less than a year after the first Godzilla's demise, pilot Shoichi Tsukioka arrived on the uninhabited Iwato Island to save his friend Koji Kobayashi, who had crashed near the island. When Tsukioka and Kobayashi were about to leave the island, they heard a loud roar. Seeking shelter in a rock crevice, they looked up to see a giant monster that Tsukioka immediately recognized as Godzilla. The pilots then realized that Godzilla was not by himself, as he was engaged in a fierce battle with the Ankylosaurus kaiju Anguirus. Godzilla and Anguirus plunged into the ocean together and disappeared beneath the waves.

Tsukioka and Kobayashi shared their encounter with Japanese officials, seeking advice from Dr. Kyohei Yamane. Yamane concluded that the hydrogen bomb test that provoked the Godzilla attack in Tokyo had also stirred up another Godzilla and a massive Ankylosaurus. Sadly, Yamane lamented that without Dr. Serizawa, there was no way to eliminate Godzilla. He proposed that the only option was to lure Godzilla away from the coast using flares to divert his attention. Shortly after, Godzilla emerged in the sea close to Osaka, enticed by the bright lights of the city. The city was plunged into darkness by a government mandate, leading to the dropping of flares at a distance from the shore.

The sight of the lights stirred upmemories of the destructive power of the hydrogen bomb in Godzilla, prompting him to move towards them. It appeared that a potential attack by Godzilla had been successfully prevented. However, in Osaka, three prisoners managed to escape from a police vehicle and stole a gasoline truck in an effort to flee from law enforcement. The vehicle collided with a refinery, triggering a massive explosion. The fire and smoke from the explosion caught Godzilla's attention, causing him to head towards Osaka. At the same time, Anguirus emerged from the water onto the shore, seemingly to confront Godzilla. Godzilla launched a ferocious attack on Anguirus, and they engaged in a fierce battle, wreaking havoc on the city of Osaka just like Godzilla's predecessor had done in Tokyo the previous year. Eventually, they found themselves facing off near the Osaka Castle. The monsters clashed once more, with Godzilla overpowering Anguirus and pushing him into the castle.

Godzilla then sank his teeth into Anguirus' neck, causing him to bleed heavily. Anguirus tumbled into the river and let out a feeble roar before Godzilla incinerated him with a blast of his atomic breath. As Anguirus lays defeated, Godzilla regained his composure and made his way back to the ocean. The JSDF searched for weeks near Japan to find Godzilla but had no success. However, when ships started sinking in the waters north of Hokkaido, they believed they had located Godzilla. Tsukioka flew over an icy island in his plane and spotted Godzilla standing there. The JSDF was informed and sent battle ships and fighter planes to confront Godzilla. As Godzilla began to leave the island, Kobayashi attempted to keep him there while Tsukioka regrouped with the JSDF. Godzilla fired his atomic breath at Kobayashi's plane, causing it to crash into the icy mountain slope, triggering an ice avalanche.

Tsukioka then came up with a plan to bury Godzilla in ice by blasting the slopes of the island. The JSDF set fire to the shore to trap Godzilla, while planes attacked the icy slopes with missiles. Despite managing to take down some planes, Godzilla ended up trapped inice up to his neck. Tsukioka fired a final missile which fully buried Godzilla in ice, bringing an end to his rampage as long as he remained frozen.

King Kong vs. Godzilla[]

After spending years encased in ice, Godzilla eventually broke free, and swam to a nearby military base, annihilating the JSDF's forces with his atomic breath.

Godzilla later appeared in Hokkaido, attacking a train in the countryside. He eventually meets up with King Kong who throws boulders at Godzilla, and Godzilla responded by blasting Kong with his atomic breath, setting the forests ablaze and burning his skin. Godzilla triumphantly clapped and let out a victorious roar as he made his way towards Tokyo. Unable to fight back, Kong walked away in defeat.

Godzilla eventually fell into a huge pit in the ground filled it with explosives and then covered it with a net covered in dirt and foliage, all set up by the JSDF hoping that trapped Godzilla when he reached it. When the plan failed, a barrier of high-tension wires were set around Tokyo in an attempt to keep Godzilla from entering Tokyo, this worked as Godzilla turned around and walked away after getting electrocuted.

Godzilla was later seen in Mount Fuji. Kong, who was carried off by the helicopters, was let go to battle Godzilla. Their battle was in Godzilla's favor until Kong got struck by lightning, making him strong enough to fight back against Godzilla. Eventually, after both monsters tackled each other off a cliff into the ocean below, Kong emerged from the ocean, and then proceeded to swim back to his home in Farou Island, while the humans who had witnessed the battle were left unsure if Godzilla had survived, but speculated it was possible.

Mothra vs. Godzilla[]

A strong typhoon made landfall in Japan, causing destruction along the coastline and disrupting the building of a new theme park by Happy Enterprises. The egg of Mothra was found near the coast of Japan and quickly taken by Happy Enterprises to be showcased in their upcoming park. Little did people know, Godzilla was also brought ashore by the typhoon and was buried under sediment in a floodplain. A radioactive scale was found on the floodplain, prompting Professor Miura to conduct radiation tests in the area. Initially, no traces of radiation were found, but suddenly the earth exploded and the radiation levels rose sharply. Out of nowhere, Godzilla emerged from below the surface and shook off the sand from his massive body. Letting out a fierce roar, Godzilla made his way to Nagoya, causing chaos and putting Japan in a state of emergency.

The efforts of JSDF were futile in trying to stop Godzilla. Hence, Professor Miura, journalist Ichiro Sakai, and photographer Junko Nakanishi traveled to Infant Island to seek Mothra's assistance. Despite the refusal of the Infant Island inhabitants and even Mothra's caretakers, Mothra herself agreed to fly to Japan and battle Godzilla, despite being advanced in age.

Godzilla caused extensive destruction to the Japanese Self-Defense Forces in Japan. When Godzilla approached the incubator in Japan where Mothra's egg was being held by a corporation, Mothra appeared and the two monsters begin to do battle. Despite Mothra's attempts to overpower Godzilla by using her wings to drag him and knock him down, she ultimately proved to be no match for his powerful atomic breath. In a desperate move, Mothra released a toxic yellow substance from her wings as a final attack, but she ended up being killed by a blast of Godzilla's atomic breath, leading to her demise. Godzilla continued rampage until the egg eventually hatched into two larvae Mothra, who later confronted Godzilla on Iwa Island. Ultimately, Godzilla was defeated at the hands of the two larvae when they wrap him in silk, causing him to fall over a cliff into the water below.

Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster[]

Godzilla emerged from the ocean and annihilated a large ship before heading back to Japan to cause destruction once more. Upon reaching the shore, Godzilla encountered the massive flying creature Rodan soaring above. Godzilla chased after Rodan to the vicinity of Mt. Fuji, where Rodan openly launched an attack on Godzilla. The two colossal beings engaged in an intense battle that lasted for hours, causing the terrified locals to flee the area. Meanwhile, the three-headed space dragon King Ghidorah emerged from a meteorite and commenced spreading destruction and death throughout Japan. Realizing the impossibility of defeating Ghidorah single-handedly, the remaining Mothra larva approached Godzilla and Rodan, imploring them to unite with her to protect the Earth from the threat of King Ghidorah.

Godzilla disliked the suggestion, saying that humanity had attacked him and he owed them nothing, a sentiment shared by Rodan. Mothra attempted to persuade Godzilla and Rodan that the planet was not exclusively for humans or giant monsters, but for all living beings. Despite Mothra's efforts, Godzilla and Rodan still disagreed to help, leaving Mothra to face King Ghidorah alone.

Ghidorah let out an evil laugh as he used his gravity beams to toss the larva around, while Godzilla and Rodan simply observed. Mothra tried to stop Ghidorah on her own, but was brutally outmatched. Inspired by the larva's courage, Godzilla and Rodan entered the battle against King Ghidorah. Together, the three monsters were able to force King Ghidorah to retreat back to space. This begins Godzilla's eventual transformation into a heroic kaiju.

Invasion of Astro-Monster[]

After the battle with Ghidorah, Godzilla fell into slumber beneath Lake Myojin. The Xiliens, a seemingly amiable alien race from Planet X, requested Earthlings to lend them Godzilla and Rodan to help fight Monster Zero, a menacing space creature threatening their planet. Utilizing special spacecraft, the Xiliens transported Godzilla and Rodan to Planet X and unleashed them on the surface, where they encountered Monster Zero, revealed to be King Ghidorah. Working together, Godzilla and Rodan successfully repelled Ghidorah, much to the Xiliens' pleasure. The Earthly envoys departed for their home, leaving Godzilla and Rodan behind.

After returning to Earth, the emissaries discovered that the Xiliens planned to take over and settle on Earth, with King Ghidorah being their puppet all along. With Godzilla and Rodan under their command as well, the Xiliens threatened to unleash all three monsters on the planet. Despite the Earthlings' refusal to surrender, the Xiliens set free the monsters, causing widespread destruction and overpowering any military resistance. Fortunately, Earth scientists had found a way to break the Xiliens' hold on the monsters using specialized light beams. The beams successfully disrupted the Xiliens' mind control, leading to the military quickly destroying the Xilien forces with high-pitched sounds that left them helpless.

Godzilla and Rodan saw King Ghidorah, leading them to immediately launching an attack. The creatures engaged in a fierce battle, ending with Rodan carrying Godzilla and colliding with Ghidorah, sending all three into the ocean. Ghidorah fled from the water, but Godzilla and Rodan were missing. Despite this, humans held onto the belief that the two monsters had not perished.

Ebirah, Horror of the Deep[]

Godzilla managed to survive the encounter with Ghidorah and made his way to the isolated Devil's Island, where he found a peaceful cave to rest in. Unbeknownst to him, Devil's Island was being used as a headquarters for a terrorist group called the Red Bamboo. This group had enslaved the inhabitants of Mothra's home, Infant Island, and were producing nuclear weapons. When a group of shipwreck survivors stumbled upon the island, they encountered an escaped slave who helped them evade the Red Bamboo. Seeking refuge, the group was surprised to find themselves in the same cave as Godzilla. With the Red Bamboo still on their trail and the waters surrounding the island guarded by the giant lobster Ebirah, the survivors decided to awaken Godzilla in hopes that he would defeat the Red Bamboo. Using a copper wire and sword as a lightning conductor, they managed to awaken Godzilla with a bolt of lightning. Godzilla broke free from the cave and made his way to the shore, where he was confronted by Ebirah. The two creatures engaged in a fierce battle, throwing boulders at each other before Godzilla entered the water to fight Ebirah up close. After a lengthy fight, Ebirah retreated, leaving Godzilla as the victor.

After walking inland on the island, Godzilla took a break and leaned against a cliff. Out of nowhere, Godzilla was ambushed by the Giant Condor, a monster under the control of the Red Bamboo. Despite the Giant Condor's impressive speed, Godzilla swiftly defeated it with a blast of atomic breath, causing its lifeless body to fall into the ocean. Soon after, a squadron of fighter jets sent by the Red Bamboo attempted to take down Godzilla, but he easily obliterated them. Enraged, Godzilla proceeded to unleash his fury on the Red Bamboo's headquarters, reducing it to ruins. The leaders of the Red Bamboo rigged the entire island to explode by setting off the nuclear reactor before fleeing on a boat. However, the natives had tampered with the repellent juice usually used to ward off Ebirah, resulting in the creature sinking the boat. With the Red Bamboo gone, Godzilla made his way to the coast, where Ebirah emerged to challenge him once more. Another intense battle ensued, and Godzilla seized the advantage by ripping off one of Ebirah's claws. Ebirah staggered in agony, only for Godzilla to remove his other claw as well. Injured and outmatched, Ebirah swam away in defeat.

Mothra eventually showed up on the island to rescue all the prisoners. Upon reaching the shore, Godzilla challenged Mothra to a battle with a powerful roar. Mothra, determined to save the people and the other trapped humans before the island exploded, bravely attacked Godzilla and managed to knock him down, creating an opportunity to evacuate the captives and escape. Godzilla watched bitterly as Mothra flew away, seemingly oblivious to the impending explosion. However, just moments before the island detonated, Godzilla plunged into the ocean. Following the nuclear explosion that wiped Devil's Island off the map, Godzilla emerged from the sea, much to the joy of the humans whose lives had been saved, whether intentionally or not, by Godzilla.

Son of Godzilla[]

After receiving a distress signal from a fellow member of his kind, Godzilla was beckoned to Sollgel Island. Upon arrival, he discovered three enormous mantises known as Kamacuras attacking a young Godzilla offspring named Minilla. Godzilla swiftly dispatched two of the Kamacuras and saved Minilla, who then began to trail behind him. Reluctantly, Godzilla allowed Minilla to perch on his tail as they journeyed deeper into the heart of the island. Setting up camp near a scarlet boiling lake, Godzilla took on the role of a father to Minilla, teaching him the ways of their species. Despite Minilla's initial struggle with harnessing his atomic breath, a step on his tail from Godzilla led to a successful discharge. Overjoyed, Minilla let out a delighted cry, earning a pat on the head from Godzilla. During a moment of rest for Godzilla, Minilla playfully bounded over his tail until a misstep caused him to stumble over his sleeping guardian. Locking eyes with a remorseful Minilla, Godzilla soon resumed his slumber.

Having nothing better to do, Minilla wandered away only to come face to face with the enormous spider known as Kumonga. Kumonga captured Minilla and a Kamacuras, fatally injecting the latter with poison. Just as Kumonga was about to do the same to Minilla, Godzilla arrived to rescue his offspring. Engaging in a fierce battle with Kumonga, Godzilla also had to contend with a team of United Nations scientists activating a weather-altering device on the island in an attempt to freeze it and allow for their escape from the monsters. As snow started to fall, Kumonga ensnared Godzilla in its web, ready to deliver the final blow. Luckily, Minilla stepped in and used his own atomic breath to attack Kumonga. With both monsters unleashing their atomic breath, they set Kumonga on fire. Subsequently, Godzilla made his way to the ocean to leave the freezing island, ensuring his safety. Meanwhile, Minilla, exhausted and overwhelmed, fell into the snow and began to drift off to sleep, calling out in distress. Refusing to leave his son behind, Godzilla returned and embraced Minilla in the snow, as they both entered hibernation together.

Destroy All Monsters[]

By the close of the 20th century, Godzilla and the rest of Earth's kaiju were cohabitating on Monsterland, a site on the Ogasawara Islands under human supervision. An evil extraterrestrial faction known as the Kilaaks invaded the island, manipulating the staff and creatures through mind control and releasing them worldwide. Godzilla emerged in New York City, launching an assault on the United Nations headquarters. While humans struggled to break the Kilaaks' control, Godzilla, Rodan, Manda, and Mothra jointly attacked Tokyo. Despite military efforts, the monsters wreaked havoc, leaving Tokyo in ruins. They were then summoned to Mount Fuji to protect the Kilaaks' base. Luckily, the crew of Moonlight SY-3 invaded the Kilaaks' lunar base and destroyed their mind control device. This prompted Godzilla to lead the Earth monsters in an offensive on the Kilaaks' headquarters at Mount Fuji. The Kilaaks, however, unleashed their secret weapon, King Ghidorah. Despite Ghidorah's attack on Godzilla and the Earth monsters, he proved no match for their combined strength.

Gorosaurus landed a powerful kick on Ghidorah's back, as Godzilla crushed his heads. Minilla finished off King Ghidorah by choking the last head with a smoke ring, leaving the monster helpless. Mothra and Kumonga then trapped Ghidorah in webbing. The Kilaaks then sent a fiery UFO called the "Fire Dragon," which was taken down by the SY-3. Godzilla found and destroyed the Kilaaks' base, causing Ghidorah's body to fall into a crevice. The Earth was saved, and Godzilla and his allies were returned to Monsterland for a peaceful life.

All Monsters Attack[]

A young boy named Ichiro Miki had dreams of encountering Godzilla while visiting Monster Island. In his dream, Ichiro befriended Minilla and witnessed Godzilla engage in battles with Ebirah, Kamacuras, Kumonga, and a giant eagle. Godzilla tried to teach Minilla how to defend himself, but Minilla struggled to produce atomic breath until Godzilla intervened. Ichiro and Minilla devised a plan to defeat a bully monster named Gabara, using a clever trap to subdue him temporarily. Despite Godzilla's initial praise, Gabara retaliated and provoked Godzilla into a fierce fight. Eventually, Godzilla emerged victorious and approached Ichiro along with Minilla, but Ichiro woke up before Godzilla could reach him.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah[]

The tiny extraterrestrial organism known as Hedorah thrives on Earth's pollution, transforming into a corrosive sea creature. By attacking Dr. Toru Yano, his son Ken, and causing widespread fear, Hedorah's deadly nature becomes public knowledge. Ken envisions Godzilla battling environmental devastation and believes that he will save humanity from Hedorah. Hedorah evolves into a amphibious form to access more pollution on land, leading to a showdown with Godzilla. Despite initial superiority, Hedorah retreats into the ocean, leaving remnants of itself behind to regrow and become stronger. It later re-emerges in a new, more lethal form, causing widespread death and even overwhelming Godzilla with its toxins. As despair looms, a farewell gathering is held on Mt. Fuji to commemorate humanity's final moments in the face of Hedorah's threat. Ken, Yukio, Miki, and the other attendees realize that both Godzilla and Hedorah have arrived at Mt. Fuji for an ultimate battle.

Dr. Toru Yano and his spouse Toshie Yano have discovered that drying out Hedorah's body could potentially kill the monster. The JSDF promptly builds two massive electrodes to do just that, but Godzilla and Hedorah's violent fight interferes, cutting off the power. Using his atomic breath, Godzilla powers up the electrodes, causing Hedorah's outer body to dehydrate. Hedorah sheds this outer layer and tries to escape by flying away, but Godzilla uses his atomic ray to chase after it through the air. Godzilla manages to get his hands on Hedorah again and continues to dehydrate it until the monster perishes. Godzilla then destroys Hedorah's dried-out remains until nothing is left except dust.

As Ken Yano calls out to Godzilla, the monster begins returning to the ocean, staring at humanity, whose pollution gave rise to Hedorah, before departing.

Godzilla vs. Gigan[]

Enormous insect-like aliens "M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens" from a dying planet scheme to take over Earth. These aliens take on the appearance of deceased humans and work at a peace-focused amusement park called World Children's Land, where the main attraction is "Godzilla Tower." The aliens from Nebula M intend to unleash the space monsters Gigan and King Ghidorah, controlled by two "Action Signal Tapes," to destroy human society.

An artist named Gengo Kotaka discovers the aliens' plot when he is hired to design for the park. After obtaining one of the Action Signal Tapes by accident and playing it, Godzilla and his friend Anguirus detect the signal and realize that something is wrong. Godzilla sends Anguirus to investigate, but the JSDF mistake the monster's intentions when it approaches Tokyo, and Anguirus swims away.

Anguirus returns to Monster Island, and Godzilla follows to rescue Earth from Gigan and King Ghidorah. The aliens try to defeat Godzilla using a deadly laser cannon hidden in Godzilla Tower, which resembles Godzilla's atomic breath, but Gengo and his friends outsmart the aliens by exploiting their reliance on technology, causing them to inadvertently destroy themselves. After a fierce and brutally bloody battle, Godzilla and Anguirus begin to turn the tide of battle in their favor, forcing Ghidorah and Gigan back into space. Godzilla and Anguirus then begin returning to Monster Island. Before leaving, Godzilla lets out a triumphant roar in appreciation for his human allies.

Godzilla vs. Megalon[]

In 1973, a recent underground nuclear test near the Aleutians caused shockwaves that reached Monster Island, disturbing the monsters living there. The test led to consequential earthquakes, causing Anguirus to fall into a fissure and Rodan to fly away, while Godzilla stayed put.

The undersea civilization of Seatopia has long been impacted by the nuclear tests conducted by surface nations. Angered by these tests, the Seatopians decide to release their beetle-like god, Megalon, to seek revenge by destroying the surface world. Meanwhile, inventor Goro Ibuki, his nephew Rokuro, and friend Hiroshi Jinkawa are ambushed by Seatopian agents while outnear a lake, where the Seatopians have established their base of operations after drying up the lake. The trio had been working on a humanoid robot named Jet Jaguar, which the Seatopians attempt to steal but fail, forcing them to retreat.

After some time, Jet Jaguar is finished, but the three inventors are rendered unconscious by the returning Seatopian agents. These agents intend to utilize Jet Jaguar to direct Megalon in wreaking havoc in whatever city Seatopia commands. Goro and Rokuro are marked for death, while Hiroshi is held captive. Megalon is unleashed onto the surface while Jet Jaguar falls under Seatopian control, leading Megalon in an attack on Tokyo that the JSDF are unable to stop. Eventually, the trio of heroes manage to escape from the Seatopians, regrouping to come up with a plan to seek Godzilla's assistance using Jet Jaguar's backup control system.

Teaming up with the JSDF, Goro successfully regains control of Jet Jaguar and sends the robot to Monster Island to bring Godzilla in to take on Megalon. Left to his own devices, Megalon thrashes about erratically, battling the Defense Force and causing destruction in the outskirts of Tokyo. Upon discovering Jet Jaguar's change in allegiance, the Seatopians send a distress signal to the Space Hunter Nebula M aliens to send Gigan to aid them.

As Godzilla continues swimming to Japan to stop Megalon, Jet Jaguar switches to defense mode and transforms into a massive size to combat Megalon solo while awaiting Godzilla's arrival. As Megalon tries to tire out Jet Jaguar with his flight and burrowing skills, Jet Jaguar seems to ultimately gain the upper hand, until Gigan joins in to aid Megalon which leads to a two-on-one battle against Jet Jaguar. Jet Jaguar is beaten and tossed around by Gigan and Megalon, but Godzilla finally shows up. After a lengthy and intense struggle which lasts until daytime, both Gigan and Megalon decide to retreat, leaving Godzilla and Jet Jaguar to shake hands. Godzilla heads back to Monster Island, while Jet Jaguar reverts to his original human size and rejoins his creators.

Zone Fighter[]

Godzilla first appeared when Zone Fighter found himself overwhelmed by Wargilgar and Spyler. In a moment of desperation, Zone Angel utilized a device from their arsenal to call upon Godzilla, who came to the aid of the struggling extraterrestrial warrior. Through a collaborative effort, Godzilla eliminated Wargilgar by unleashing his powerful atomic breath, while Zone Fighter vanquished Spyler with his Meteor Missile Might technique, hurling the creature into the sky and obliterating him with his Meteor Proton Beam attack. Afterwards, Godzilla and Zone Fighter shake hands, remembering each other as allies.

The Zone Family called upon Godzilla once again when Zone Fighter was in danger of being crushed by the Garoga in a race car. In an attempt to prevent Godzilla from destroying the power lines and rescuing Zone Fighter, the Garoga sent Godzilla's old foe Gigan with upgraded explosives in his scythes. Despite losing some of his abilities from past battles, Gigan could not defeat Godzilla, who saved Zone Fighter and later battled Gigan himself. Zone Fighter eventually used his Meteor Missile Might to finally destroy Gigan, causing the alien cyborg to collapse and explode on the ground.

Godzilla's help was sought by Zone Fighter once more when a series of earthquakes in Japan, caused by the fear beast Zandolla, woke him up. Zandolla had proved to be too powerful for Zone Fighter to defeat alone, leaving him severely injured and trapped underground. Despite this, Zone Fighter managed to save his brother Akira from the chaos. Godzilla joined the fight against Zandolla, leading to a fierce battle that broke open the ground and freed Zone Fighter. The two heroes combined their efforts to defeat Zandolla, with Zone Fighter ultimately using his proton beam to destroy the enemy in their toughest battle yet. After the intense battle, Godzilla and Zone Fighter's bond grew stronger, with Zone Fighter constructing a cave for Godzilla to dwell in.

The two regularly engaged in sparring matches to challenge themselves and improve their skills in anticipation of the Garogas' next assault. The imminent threat materialized in the form of the monstrous Jellar, who Zone Fighter confronted initially. However, Jellar proved to be too powerful for Zone Fighter to handle, rendering his Meteor Proton Beam useless against the creature. Fortunately, Godzilla was called upon to assist his comrade and swiftly joined the fight. In the midst of the battle, Godzilla managed to rip off one of Jellar's limbs when the creature ensnared him, leading to the unexpected emergence of a new monster named Kastam-Jellar. Initially faced with adaunting challenge, the two heroes received a crucial power boost from Smokey in the form of an emergency power capsule. With their strength replenished, Godzilla and Zone Fighter vanquished their adversaries through a coordinated effort combining Godzilla's atomic breath with Zone Fighter's Meteor Missile Might.

After that, Garoga sent two creatures, Garoborg and Spider Uros, to launch an assault on Japan. Hikaru was trapped under a fallen rock at first, preventing him from joining the fight, while Godzilla faced both monsters alone. Despite his efforts, Godzilla was initially overwhelmed by the alien creatures. Hikaru's family eventually rescued him, allowing him to transform into Zone Fighter and assist Godzilla in defeating the two monsters once and for all. Zone Fighter used his Meteor Missile Might to take down Garoborg, while both he and Godzilla combined their attacks, Zone Fighter's Meteor Proton Beam and Godzilla's Atomic Breath, to eliminate Spider Uros.

After a while, the Zone Family appeared to have settled down and continued their lives, while Godzilla would appear again to defeat new malicious monsters single-handedly. Although Zone Fighter did not make another appearance, his bravery in protecting Earth and close bond with Godzilla will always be remembered.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla[]

Godzilla appears out of Mt. Fuji or what appears to be Godzilla is uncharacteristically rampaging, Anguirus tries to stop "Godzilla" in the process and reveals that there is metal under "Godzilla's" skin. Then "Godzilla" breaks his jaw and sends Anguirus burrowing away underground. Later, "Godzilla" rampages again, but then the real Godzilla comes out of a factory, with the other Godzilla revealing himself to be Mechagodzilla. Godzilla tries to stop him from wreaking havoc, with the clash ending with Godzilla being thrown into Tokyo Bay, his blood staining the waters. Mechagodzilla, damaged, retreated back to its alien masters on Black Hole Planet 3 in Okinawa. Meanwhile, Godzilla sought refuge on Monster Island, where he was struck by lightning multiple times.

To his surprise, the lightning imbued him with the ability to control magnetic forces. With this newfound power, Godzilla headed to Okinawa to confront Mechagodzilla once again, who was busy fighting against the guardian beast god King Caesar. Godzilla teamed up with King Caesar, eventually overpowering Mechagodzilla and forcing it to flee. As Mechagodzilla tried to escape, Godzilla used his magnetic abilities to hold Mechagodzilla in place, while Caesar attacked. In a final move, Godzilla tore Mechagodzilla's upper torso from its body, defeating the robotic foe. Simultaneously, a group of humans managed to infiltrate the aliens' base and trigger a self-destruct sequence, causing both the base and Mechagodzilla to explode. Godzilla, along with the wreckage of Mechagodzilla, fell into the ocean. As Godzilla resurfaced and swam away, King Caesar returned to his slumber on the side of a cliff.

Terror of Mechagodzilla[]

Dr. Mafune released the monster Titanosaurus in Tokyo, prompting Godzilla to intervene and try to save Tokyo from him. Initially, Godzilla faced Titanosaurus in battle, but the monster suddenly withdrew, leaving Godzilla perplexed. Godzilla later returned to stop Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla, who had been reconstructed and controlled by the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens after causing massive destruction in Tokyo. Despite putting up a valiant fight, Godzilla was overpowered by the combined strength of both of them. Titanosaurus relentlessly attacked Godzilla, while Mechagodzilla incapacitated him with its finger missiles. Titanosaurus then punts Godzilla into a ravine, while Mechagodzilla used its missiles to bury him alive. The JSDF employed a sonic oscillator to distract Titanosaurus, allowing Godzilla to resurface and focus on Mechagodzilla. Despite Mechagodzilla launching its array of weapons at Godzilla, he managed to overpower his mechanical opponent and decapitate it once more.

In contrast to the previous encounter, Mechagodzilla remained intact and was still capable of releasing a powerful laser beam from the mechanical "brain" located on its neck. At the same time, Katsura Mafune, who had the control of Mechagodzilla implanted within her, took her own life to stop the destructive robot. Unable to move, Godzilla seized Mechagodzilla and hurled it into the ravine where it had been buried before, then unleashed his atomic breath, causing Mechagodzilla to explode and be permanently destroyed. Turning his focus to Titanosaurus, Godzilla easily subdued the creature. The leader of the aliens, Mugal, and his remaining followers attempted to escape in their UFOs, but Godzilla spotted them and obliterated them with his atomic breath, ending them from causing anymore harm to the world. Godzilla then targeted Titanosaurus, firing his atomic breath at his chest, sending him plummeting over a cliff into the ocean below. Godzilla retreated back into the sea and triumphantly swam away from the scene.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Atomic Breath: Godzilla's dorsal plates glow ominously, and then he fires his atomic breath, a concentrated blast of radiation, from his mouth. In Godzilla vs. Hedorah, his atomic breath can also be used for flight by aiming it at the ground and lifting off like a rocket.
  • Magnetic powers: In Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Godzilla generates powerful magnetic fields from his body after being struck several times by lightning, which is strong enough to pull enemies made of metal towards him.
  • Durability: Godzilla is completely immune to conventional human weaponry, and is also capable of withstanding attacks from most other kaiju that he battles. The only monsters who were able to damage Godzilla's skin and seriously injure him are Hedorah, Gigan and Mechagodzilla.
