Goldilocks, or just Goldi, is the secondary antagonist of DreamWorks' 43rd full-length animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and the short Puss in Boots: The Trident.
Despite being a criminal, she's shown to be a rather insecure young woman who wishes to use the Wishing Star to reunite with her biological parents after they abandoned her, though she still cares for her adoptive family.
She was voiced by Florence Pugh, who also played Elizabeth de Burgh in Outlaw King and Yelena Belova in Black Widow.
Personality[]
Goldilocks, known as "Goldi" by her adoptive family and rivals, is a fierce and determined young girl, seeking what she wants with great fervor and having a liking for things to be "just right". Goldi leads her adoptive family, the Three Bears, as their self-appointed leader, supported by Papa and Mama Bear while Baby Bear tends to butt heads with her and they bicker like all brothers and sisters do. She often has to keep her adoptive parents focused on the task at hand and often orders Baby to sniff out their quarry since he has the best sense of smell.
Though she is close with her adoptive family, deep down Goldi longed for her biological family, as she is an orphan (a fact often rubbed in her face by Baby) and wanted the Wishing Star's singular wish to find her real family, an obsession that blinded her initially to the family she already had. At first, Goldi kept her wish a secret from the Three Bears until Baby angrily demanded her to tell them and her answer left them heartbroken and speechless. Goldi halfheartedly explained that she didn't really belong with them, as she isn't a bear herself, and that she wanted things to be "just right" with the world (as in being with her real family despite not knowing anything about them).
She was humbled when the Three Bears, despite being hurt, chose to help her get her wish if it was what she truly wanted. But when Goldi had the chance to make the wish she passed it up to save her adoptive brother, Baby, from his doom, proving that in spite of her feelings and insecurities, Goldi loved the Three Bears and finally made peace with herself and truly understood that what she'd wanted she already had (which the Wishing Star had been trying to tell her all along) and she began getting along better with Baby, encouraging him to decide their next venture.
All in all, Goldi is a pretty complex person. While she did committed numerous criminal acts and had clashed with others, she herself wasn't really a bad person at heart, as evidenced by her deep love for her adoptive family. What's more, her earlier goal of using the Wishing Star wasn't even as extreme as that from her rival Big Jack, as she only longed for a human family rather than immense power, even if this conflicts with her adoptive family, who are instead a band of bears. In addition, she's capable of complete change, as proven by her will to not only give up her wish in favor of her adoptive family, but also side with both Puss and Kitty to finally stop their common enemy Big Jack. With all of her flaws and faults, in the end, she is truly an honorable human lady who eventually gave up her criminal career for a more well-adjusted life with her own current family of bears.
History[]
Initially Goldilocks wanted to force Puss in Boots to find the map to the Wishing Star for her and the Bears, going to the city of Del-Mar, while following in her footsteps, they arrive at the house of Mama Luna, who invade it in search of Puss in Boots. However, they don't recognize him due to the fact that he now looks weak and has a beard, and they also see some sort of grave where Puss buried his Zorro clothes due to the fact that he only has one life left and they believe he is dead, what if they are dismayed.
Soon after, she, along with the bears then infiltrate Big Jack Horner's collection where they locate the cat and Kitty as well as Jack Horner. As Goldi and the Bears go after Puss and Kitty, the Bears attempt to chase him in which Puss uses a stick on Baby and Mama, while attempting to do the same to Papa, only to be knocked out of the air as he bursts out. of the window with Kitty as the two get into the carriage with Perrito.
So she and the Three Bears set off, hot on Puss, Kitty and Perrito's heels, as they argue about what to wish for when they get the Wishing Star. However, they face Big Jack Horner, who in a battle in which Puss and his friends are also involved, steal their map. After that, the Goldi family and the Bears celebrate as they travel to the Wishing Star in which they notice a cabin in the forest, as they relax as Goldi looks at a book she used to look at, which was the day she was adopted . As the cat and the cat sneak in, the cat accidentally drops one of her boots, pointing out to Goldi and her mom that it's gone. As Goldi wakes Baby and Dad, the cat is captured and Goldi and the bears then attempt to retrieve the map. Goldi nearly grabs her Map again despite her soft bed slowing her down, only for Perrito to accidentally ram her with a pot of honey which she catches in the face. The cat and the kitten then fight the bears as they each kick the porridge, in which they throw the hot porridge at Mum, the cold porridge at Baby, and the hot porridge at Dad.
Puss and Kitty recover the map, but Goldi and the Bears take Perrito. Kitty goes to save him while Puss has separated from her and entered the soul cave, with Perrito near a trap. A couple of minutes later Baby Bear and Goldilocks get into a fight, which amuses Perrito who adds in the commentary. Baby Bear tells him to stay out of the fight, which makes Perrito laugh and joins the taunt battle with his own swear words, which makes Mama Bear and Papa Bear laugh and admire. Perrito tells Goldilocks that her family is fun and that being an orphan she "hit the lottery" which makes Goldilocks sensitive, when Mama Bear says they should adopt Perrito since he's just like them, Kitty takes sneaks Perrito and replaces him with a fake statue of Perrito, which angers Baby Bear and takes the statue, but just as Goldilocks reminds Baby Bear of the trap it's too late as they have fallen into the trap.
Later, as Puss in Boots arrives at the location of the Dying Wish, the Three Bears and Goldilocks unknowingly (as they were lost) were near the location of the Dying Wish. Which causes Goldilocks to insult and scold Baby Bear, fed up with Goldilocks abuse and insults, Baby Bear gets angry at Goldilocks, yelling at her and asking her how important is that wish that involved him and his parents in this, which causes Goldilocks to reveal that he wants to use the wish to get back together with his birth parents, which breaks the hearts of the Three Bears, to which the Bears doubt Goldilocks, to which Goldilocks comments that she is not a bear and does not feel like a part of the family, to which Mama Bear says that if that wish is very important to her they will get the Dying Wish.
Then, Goldi and Bears appear in battle, against Puss in Boots and Big Jack Horner. Here, Goldi manages to get the map, but when she is about to make a wish, she realizes that Baby Bear is in mortal danger and leaves the map to save him. Afterwards, she along with the others see a restless Death advancing to kill Puss, and witness the battle against them, where Puss manages to defeat him. Then, however, Big Jack Horner (who seemed to have been defeated, falling into his suitcase) becomes enormous. Thus, Goldi and The Three Bears team up with Puss, Kitty and Perrito to stop him and getting the map, Puss, Kitty and Goldi destroy it as well as the Wishing Star and Jack Horner who dies in a shower of shooting stars. Finally, Goldi happily accepts to be part of the bear family, telling them they were right about how lucky she was, and she greets as Perrito before winking at him. Later, while they were planning what would become of her life, Baby says that they can be Jack Horner's understudy at the pastry organization, to which Goldilocks comments that it's a good idea, after hearing what the kids were planning. bears, the Ethical Bug tells them it's a good idea and he can be his business partner, scaring Baby Bear, which causes Goldilocks to try and swat the bug.
