Gongsun Baoyue is one of the two tritagonists (the other being Liu Shen) of the 2016 Chinese TV series God of War Zhao Yun/Chinese Hero Zhao Zilong, loosely based in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the late Luo Guanzhong. She is a fictional daughter of Gongsun Zan.

She is portrayed by Jia Qing.

Biography[]

Gongsun Baoyue was one of the children of Gongsun Zan, a warlord in Northern China. She was spoiled but also trusted by her father who made her an officer in his army. Baoyue was very skilled in martial arts as well as weapons which made her a tough opponent for even physically stronger enemies. Baoyue had two very loyal servants and friends by her side, Ping'er and Shuang'er. They both fought alongside her in many battles and protected her. Baoyue had also a close friendhsip with Xiahou Qinyi, the daughter of one of her father's friends, Xiahou Jie. They were close as sisters.

Sometine in 191, during the reign of Dong Zhuo, while her father was fighting against him, she was reunited with Qingyi but eventually got kidnapped by a group of bandits led by Du Jue. She was saved by Zhao Yun, who was already an enemy of the bandits. The two became friends and Baoyue quickly fell in love with him, however, Zhao Yun was already in love with Qingyi and saw her as a friend. Despite him not being interested, she never gave up trying to gain his love, and usually fought with Qingyi over him. She would be saved by Zhao Yun once again when the bandits attack them again. Du Jue was about to kill her but Zhao Yun protected her and killed him. She would then go back to his father in Youzhou.

Once she got there, her uncle Gongsun Yue was killed by Yuan Shao's troops. A furious Gongsun Zan declared war on Yuan Shao and attacked him. Yuan Shao's top warrior Wen Chou engaged him in combat and managed to overpower him but before delivering the finishing blow, Zhao Yun, who arrievd to join his forces saved him. Baoyue introduced him to her father, but even though he let him join his army, didn't seem to trust him. Baoyue went as far as to pose as Zhao Yun in order to be captured by Wen Chou and force Zhao Yun to save her, so that he father would see him in a new light. Around this time, Baoyue would also become the student of Guan Yu, a general who along his brothers Liu Bei and Zhang Fei were also fighting for her father. She would also meet Pang Tong and befriend him.

In 199, Yuan Shao defeated Gongsun Zan and forced him to committe suicide. Baoyue swore to avenge him by killing Yuan Shao. She tried to assassinate him but failed and was instead attacked by Yuan Shao's men. She was saved by Ma Chao, who was interested in her and told her to forget about revenge. Baoyue would then seek Zhao Yun once again in Jing but she would be kidnapped by her friend and love rival Qingyi who wanted to force Zhao Yun to meet her and explain to her if he was the murderer of her father. Qingyi would end up dying to Gao Ze. Following the Battle of Chibi, Zhao Yun would travel to Southland along with his new lord Liu Bei. Baoyue would also come with them and would soon befriend Sun Quan's mother Lady Wu. Baoyue tried to use her influence in order to marry Zhao Yun but it didn't work as Zhao Yun had already met Ma Yunlu, a girl who looked exactly like Qinyi and Ma Chao's young sister. Baoyue would continue to chase after Zhao Yun for a while but would also slowly give up hope and show interest for Ma Chao as well. She continued to serve Liu Bei's Army.
