~ Majin Buu's frequent cry. |
Majin Buu, known as Good Buu to distinguish him from his evil counterpart, is a major character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He started as a villain, but later on became an ally of the protagonists.
He was voiced by Kōzō Shioya who also voices Chūtora in the Japanese Version and Josh Martin (as Majin and Kid Buu) and Justin Cook (as Super Buu) who also voices Hatsuharu Sohma in the English version.
In Dragon Ball DAIMA as a mini, he was voiced by Dusty Feeney in English.
History[]
He was summoned by Bibidi many years ago as an ultimate killing machine that would enable Bibidi to conquer the universe. Although Buu managed to kill West and North Supreme Kai and managed to absorb South Supreme Kai, after absorbing Grand Supreme Kai, Buu became very docile and obedient to Bibidi. However, he was able to be sealed inside an egg and buried deep in the earth by the Supreme Kai. In the present, Babidi, Bibidi's son, revives Buu and commands him to begin a rampage of death and destruction across the planet. After proving too powerful for the Z fighters, Buu murders Babidi when he grows tired of being humiliated and bossed around by him, and continues his destruction spree.
The supposed world martial arts champion, Mr. Satan, later approaches Buu and convinces him that killing and destroying is wrong, and Buu decides to stop doing it. The two become friends, but not long after, a deranged gunman nearly kills Mr. Satan and a dog named Bee that the pair had adopted. Seething with anger, Buu expels a cloud of steam, which forms into Evil Buu, a manifestation of all of the evil that existed in Buu's heart. The two Buus proceed to fight, ending with Evil Buu turning Good Buu into chocolate before devouring him, transforming Evil Buu into Super Buu.
Much later, as the Z-Fighters, Goku and Vegeta are fighting Kid Buu, a later transformation of Super Buu, Mr. Satan scolds Kid Buu, who is unable to kill him due to the affection that Good Buu felt for him. Kid Buu then expels Good Buu, who in turn fights against Kid Buu on the side of the Z-Fighters. After a prolonged battle, Goku is able to kill Kid Buu with a Super Spirit Bomb, and he and Vegeta discover Good Buu, barely alive. After some debate, Goku and Mr. Satan convince Vegeta to spare Good Buu, since he helped them fight Kid Buu and the evil has been expelled from his heart. "Mr. Buu" then becomes a permanent member of the Z-Fighters and lives with Mr. Satan. Goku and the Z-Fighters hidden Buu away from the citizens for 6 months and used the Dragon Balls to erase everyone (except for the Z-Fighters and Mr. Satan) of their knowledge of Majin Buu.

Trivia[]
- Buu was originally harnessed by the wizard Bibidi, who had a surviving fission called Babidi. Combining their names makes Bibidi-Babidi-Buu, which is a reference to Cinderella's Fairy Godmother's spell "bibbidi-bobbidi-boo."
