Grace Le Domas is the main protagonist of the 2019 horror comedy film Ready or Not.
She is the newly wed of Alex Le Domas, and is forced to participate in "hide and seek" after she draws Le Bail's card as the family tries to sacrifice her before dawn.
She is portrayed by Samara Weaving, who played Bee (The Babysitter film series), Nix Degraves (Guns Akimbo), and Melanie Cross (Mayhem), and also voiced Batty in the 100% Wolf animated film.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Grace's background, but she mentions that she was a foster kid, and never knew her family. As an adult, she would eventually fall in love with a man named Alex, who was a member of the Le Domas family who ran a game company. Grace then began a romantic relationship with Alex and became engaged, but she wouldn't meet the rest of his family until the beginning of the film. Though she loves Alex, she is intimidated by his family's wealth, and feels that the family don't particularly like her. Unbeknownst to Grace, Alex and his family committed human sacrifices for the demon Le Bail to make the in-law a part of the family.
Ready or Not[]
Grace marries Alex and meets the rest of his family, and after the wedding, goes to their estate where Tony explains that their ancestor, Victor Le Domas made a deal with Le Bail. Victor's deal was that every new member of the Le Domas family must draw a card from Le Bail's puzzle box, and the Le Domas family was given a fortune. Grace draws out the "hide and seek" card from the puzzle box, and goes into hiding while the Le Domas's arm themselves to kill Grace before dawn. While hiding, Grace witnesses Alex's sister, Emilie, murder a maid that she mistook to be Grace. She is found by Alex, who informs Grace that his family was cursed by Le Bail, and that the "hide and seek" card forces the family to kill the newcomer before dawn or they will be killed.
Alex allows her to escape by disabling the house's security, and Grace is able to escape with the assistance of Daniel, who had become disillusioned by his family's ethics. She is stopped by the family butler Stevens, but manages to escape outside the estate after nearly being caught by a third maid. Outside, Grace goes to the stables where she sees Georgie, who shoots her in the hand and she falls into a pit of corpses. Getting out of the pit, she tries to stop a motorist but fails, and finds a car where she calls police via the car's onboard system. The operator shuts off the car when they inform Grace that the car was reported to be stolen, and she is then chased by Stevens once again. Stevens tranquilizers her, but she awakens and fights him before he crashes his car, killing him.
Before she could escape, Daniel captures her and brings her to the family, whom are celebrating by drinking from the ceremonial cup. It's revealed that Daniel put non-lethal doses of hydrochloric acid into the ceremonial cup, causing the Le Domases to vomit blood while he frees Grace from her binds. Before she could escape, Daniel is killed by Charity for his treachery, but is immediately killed by Grace. She then goes to kill most of the family, but is captured again by Alex after he realizes she doesn't trust him and will leave the estate. Though she gets tied up, she manages to break free right at the strike of dawn, which leads to the Le Domas family to being killed via imploding. Grace starts to laugh at the deaths, and refuses Alex's attempts to forgiveness, causing his death. Before she leaves the house, Le Bail briefly appears, giving his respect to Grace by giving a head nod. Leaving the house and sitting at the steps, Grace smokes a cigarette as the police arrive. When the police officer asks Grace what happened, she simply replies "in-laws".
Personality[]
Though not much is known about Grace, she shows herself to be kind and caring, as she truly loves Alex despite what the Le Domas's thinks. Due to growing up as a foster child, Grace seeks to join a family, and despite the faults of the Le Domas's she sees at the start of the film, she willing to marry into them since she wants to be part of a family. After learning of how the Le Domas's gained their fortune and their sinister plans when she pulls the "hide and seek" card, Grace becomes disgusted with Alex and his family and seeks to escape from them. Being forced to survive, Grace shows herself to be determined and resourceful, and become a brutal fighter to kill the Le Domas's.
She displayed formidable willpower, as she suffers multiple injuries, often with increasing severity, over the course of the night, but remains strong and resilient enough to keep fighting. Despite being hunted herself, she was selfless enough to try to protect her new nephew, only to face a wound when he shot her hand, thus she lost any concern for kindness as she punched the armed child out.
Grace displayed a capacity for forgiveness and appreciation if earnest attempt at redemption was made, as despite him being one of the hunters (if unethused), when Daniel risked his life to stop the family from killing her, and ultimately suffering a fatal gunshot from his wife, she went to him when he was dying, and Grace offered a genuine sense of gratitude, while also comforting him as he died, with her being saddened by his death.

Trivia:[]
- Before Samara Weaving received the role, Margot Robbie was considered.
- Due to annulling (although called divorcing) Alex, she would likely revert to her original surname.
- There is a theory that the Hide 'n' Seek game only had a fatal consequence for the hider if found, and deaths of the seekers were an incorrect assumption the Le Domas's came to years ago (much like how security cameras could have been used since being created, because they aren't mentioned in the rules). The Le Domas family only die at the end because Aunt Helene declared that Grace would die anyway, which violated the rules, thus La Bail executed the whole family for the transgression. This theory is supported by the fact it was dawn for a few minutes, but none of the seekers had died, with them facing lethal consequences only for the aforementioned breaking of the rules.
- It is confirmed that she will reprise her role in the sequel, Ready or Not 2.
