Grandpa and Grandma Longneck also known in full names as Luka and Luna are characters in the Land Before Time films and television series. They are each Brontosaurus, which is one of many species referred to as "Longnecks" by the characters in the franchise. They are Littlefoot's maternal grandparents - due to being the parents of his mother - and his primary caregivers after his mother's death. They act as parents to Littlefoot; giving him advice when needed and take the responsibility of protecting him very seriously. Grandma is voiced by late Linda Gary and later Miriam Flynn while Grandpa is voiced by late Kenneth Mars (who also voiced King Triton) and later voiced by Barry Bostwick (who also voiced Thunderbolt).
The Land Before Time 3: The Time of Great Giving[]
Grandpa and Grandma Longneck were seen during the flying rock impact in the Great Valley and causes a landslide in the Mysterious Beyond. Littlefoot reunited with his grandparents and a tree was about to collapse at them, but they dodged it. After the impact they found Littlefoot hiding under a tree stump asking if he was all right and he could come out. Littlefoot asked them if that was a regular earth shake and they told him it's not and they didn't know what it was and it had to do with those flying rocks coming from the sky and watched the aurora lights glowing in the sky. Grandpa, Grandma, and Littlefoot were in the Thundering Falls with the other Great Valley dinosaurs drinking and eating, but the waterfall suddenly stopped. They wondered why the waterfall stopped flowing and talked about it and planned to leave the Great Valley. But the grown-ups refused to leave. Grandpa Longneck witnessed Littlefoot and his friends being bullied by Hyp, Nod, and Mutt in the river asking him what happened and he replied that it was an accident.
Cera's dad told Grandpa Longneck that his daughter wouldn't waste and called Littlefoot a bad influence. This angered Grandpa and told Cera's dad that wasn't true (knowing Cera's dad was the bad influence due to his bad behavior in the first film). Later Hyp's dad who witnessed what Hyp had done to Littlefoot apologized to Grandpa and Grandma over his son's actions and leading Cera's dad to insult Littlefoot. During the wildfire in the Great Valley, Grandpa rescued Cera and her dad from the fire while Grandma lead Littlefoot and the others to safety. They argued until Littlefoot told them that the water was stuck in the Mysterious Beyond and they had to free the water. They encountered Littlefoot and his friends who just rescued Hyp from the tar pit that they do not to the time to wander on the Mysterious Beyond and Hyp's dad scolded Hyp for putting himself in danger, bullying Littlefoot and his friends and Cera's dad to call the latter a bad influence. This also caused Daddy Topps begin to understand and what is right, and also realized it was Hyp who did waste the water earlier.
They were being attacked by a group of Velociraptors and they held them off while Littlefoot and his friends freed the water. They succeeded in freeing the water and putting the fire in the Great Valley out. Now the Thundering falls was now flowing with more water, the herds return to the Great Valley, although the fire destroyed most of the plants which they fed. Working together, the dinosaurs survived the time until the plants started to grow again by feeding on the last remains of the plants, moving from one verdant area to another and sharing everything they find; a behavior which gave this time its name "The Time of the Great Giving".
The Land Before Time VI: The Secret of Saurus Rock[]
It's revealed he knew the story about the Lone Dinosaur which was later to be Doc, another thing was he had not been to Saurus Rock since he learned the story from his grandfather which there was a theory was the young Longneck from the story was Grandpa Longneck's grandfather.
