Harold "Hal" Jordan, also known as Green Lantern is the main protagonist of the 2008 animated superhero film Justice League: The New Frontier. He is veteran of the Korean turned test pilot for Ferris Aircraft, who is eventually chosen by Abin Sur to be his successor as the Green Lantern.
During his time serving in the air-force the end of the Korean War, alongside his fiend Kyle "Ace" Morgan, Hal had intentions of becoming a test pilot, when the two were attacked enemy pilots who not informed of the cease-fire. As Hal was forced to eject himself from his plane, he was attacked and forced to kill a Korean solider in self-defense. This incident traumatized Hal and was he forced to spend two years in a hospital mental ward, keeping him from finding a job a test pilot.
The New Frontier[]
After getting out the hospital, Hal enjoys himself with Ace in a Las Vegas casino, where they witness the criminal Captain Cold attempting to rob the place before the superhero the Flash arrives to stop and disables bombs throughout the city. After leaving Las Vegas, Hal and Ace drive through the desert before stopping at Ferris Aircraft, where Ace reveals he managed to help get Hal a job as a test pilot, despite his past hospitalization. While working for Ferris Aircraft, he learns that the company from his boss Carol Ferris that the company true intentions are to travel to Mars in a rocket that has been commissioned by the government being overseen by special agent King Faraday.
However, as Hal and his trainer Col. Rick Flagg depart for their mission to Mars, the rocket is damaged and malfunctions. Hal tries to land the rocket but Flagg reveals there are weapons of mass destruction on board it that was intended to eliminate any life on Mars and ejects him from the rocket as Flagg dies in the rocket's explosion, Hal is saved by Superman.
