The Greyrat family are major characters in the adventure anime, light novel, and manga series Mushoku Tensei. They are the relatives of Rudeus Greyrat, a former Japanese resident who was was reincarnated after dying in a car accident in his previous life. They are a large family of nobles from the Asura Kingdom that is divided into 4 noble houses; Zephyrus, Boreas, Euros and Greyrat. Some male members of the Greyrat house are infamous to have perverted tendencies; Some membes of the Notos houses have an obsession large breasts and some member of the Boreas houses have an obsession with beast peoples.
History[]
Before Rudeus' Birth[]
During his original life, Rudeus (whose original name remained unknown) lived a very depressing lifestyle, and he often got involved with bullying in his high school years. Due to this, he was forced to stop going to school and live as a hermit. But his family, specifically his parents would try to convince him to go back to school and would always refuse. There was also at least one classmate who had a good relationship with him and would even go to his house to bring him homework, unfortunately, he refused his friendship when he also tries to convince to go he refused his friendship when he also tries to convince to go back to school. While staying at home, his window would be closed and his room in complete darkness while playing video games. During the day as soon he opens the window, a group of high school students call him various insults toward his room. At some time he was also tied on the front gate of his school entrance, with his clothes removed and his classmates taking pictures of him mainly calling him with the same insult.
Rudeus reincarnated
As 20 years passed, the depressing life finally ended when both of his parents ended up passing away and Rudeus refused to attend their funeral, having the rest of his family disowned and kicked him out of the house making him homeless. The reason is specified to be because Rudeus was caught jerking off when his siblings came back home that day following their parents' funeral. Rudeus was now walking homeless in the street being broke and thinking about the life that he just lived, until he stumbled upon a speeding truck that was about to run into a group of high school students. He decides to sacrifice his life by pushing one of the students out of the way, killing the man. He then opens his eyes and finds himself in the hands of his new mother as a baby, realizing that he is reincarnated.
Paul Greyrat's Background[]
Paul Greyrat, Rudeus' afterlife father was born from a high ranking noble family, known as the Notos in the Asura Kingdom. At age 12 he got a fight with his father and would leave his home, he would throw away his last name to became an adventurer and form a party called Fangs of the Black Wolf with five other peoples. At that time, he was a very lecherous man that has attracted many womens and have slept with them before eventually marrying, one his party member Zenith, who gave would gave birth to Rudeus later on.
Zenith's Background[]
Zenith Greyrat, Rudeus' afterlife mother was born in the Holy Country of Millis. She was the second daughter of an Earl of Millis. Unlike her future husband, Zenith was very respectful to others, getting great results at school and was nicknamed “Millis young lady standard”. However she eventually would take a similar path. She also ran away from home after arguing with her parents forcing her to marry someone from Earl's family in Millis. As a healer, finding a job wasn’t easy for her, since she had little Zenith, who gave would gave birth to Rudeus later on. knowledge of spending money. She would join a party where other members would use her as a human shield to fight monsters and is later on saved by Paul. She would fall in love and would wish to marry him after joining his team. However she learn that Paul would sleep with multiple womens. Therefore she told him that if he had faith in her, then she would sleep with him to which Paul agreed. A few years later, they both retire as adventurers and would start living in a farm in Buena Village. Zenith would get pregnant and give birth to their first child, Rudeus.
Post-Teleportation Incident[]
Rudeus was born within the Greyrat bloodline after dying in his life. His new parents, Paul and Zenith Greyrat are farmers. Sometime later, his father would have another child with Zenith, then with the maid of their house, Lilia Greyrat, thus making her his second wife. Zenith’s newborn was named Aisha Greyrat and Lilia’s, Norn Greyrat.
At age seven, Rudeus would be sent to his uncle's home, the Boreas to become her cousin Eris Greyrat’s tutor. After three years of teaching her along with Ghislaine Dedoldia, citizens in the Fittoa Region and the Asura Kingdom would become victims of the infamous Mana Calamity that teleported them at random across the globe.
Rudeus and Eris are sent to the Demon Continent where they are saved Ruijerd Superdia, a superd and would form a party called “Dead End”. Meanwhile, Paul and his daughter Norn, are teleported to the Southern Regions of the Asura Kingdom.
As for Lilia and her daughter Aisha, they were teleported into an underground lake of the Shirone Kingdom and were later found and imprisoned by Pax Shirone after arriving at his castle when they were asking for help. Rudeus rescues her with the help of Pax’s older brother Zanoba Shirone. Zenith would get teleported into the Teleportion Labyrinth and would later on be rescued by Rudeus, Roxy and some members of her former party Fangs of the Black Wolf.
Later on Sauros Boreas Greyrat, Eris’s grandfather is executed in front of the king because he was suspected of being the cause of the Mana Calamity and is replaced by his son James Boreas Greyrat. After reaching the Fiotta region, Dead End would get disbanded. Eris and Rudeus would learn that her parent were both found dead because of the Mana Calamity, as Ghislaine discovered their body in an unrevealed location and would learn that her grandfather was executed. Further on in the series, Paul Greyrat would be killed by a hydra after trying to save his son from the monster’s final attacks. Throughout many events, Rudeus narrowly dodges tragedies, that were formulated by Hitogami, that could have been the end for his loved ones. One includes Hitogami's attempt to indirectly poison and kill Roxy by prompting Rudeus to open the door of their family's basement and unknowingly for him to free a rat that was inside and poison a burger that will eventually be consumed by Roxy. This has been shown in the alternative timeline to have emotionally damaged Rudeus but was fortunately avoided in the main timeline.
At the end of the series, Rudeus would marry both Sylphiette a childhood friend of him, Roxy Migurdia and his cousin Eris Boreas Greyrat. Each of them would get two kids with Rudeus, which would make six childrens in total. Ruijerd would marry his Rudeus’s little sister, Norn Greyrat and have a child.
After the Main Story[]
After the story ended, Eris would leave a peaceful life. Even at age 74, she would be training vigorously daily, until one day after running in the morning and training with her sword, she collapsed on her bed after exercising, thus passing away in the year K479. 2 years later, in K481, Rudeus would also live a peaceful life and pass away at the age of 74. At that time Sylphiette would still look like she was still in her 40s.
Sequel[]
It is speculated that Rudeus's children and descendant are destinated to defeat the Man God Hitogami for good, years after the main stories.
