Corporal Griffen is a minor character in the 2007 video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its 2016 remaster, and a supporting character in the 2011 sequel Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

He is a member of the Special Air Service's Bravo Team, who assisted Captain Price in retrieving intel on the cargo ship Väljakutse. During the height of World War III, Griffen worked alongside Wallcroft and Marcus Burns in intercepting a cargo transport off the docks of London.

He was voiced by Michael Cudlitz.

Background[]

Not much is known about Griffen's past, but he was born in the United Kingdom, and later joined the SAS, the British Army's special forces unit.

Modern Warfare[]

In 2011, Griffen was assigned to Bravo Team (also known as Bravo Six) under the command Captain Price, and participated in retrieving an unidentified package on a ship. Boarding the Väljakutse, Griffen and Wallcroft were tasked by their leader to guard the rear while he and the others infiltrated the cargo hold. The two soldiers later boarded the helicopter, and later spotted MiG arriving to destroy the ship. Bravo Six managed to make it back in time before the ship went under, having discovered a nuclear device, but were unable to seize it.

Modern Warfare 3[]

Upon the Zakhaev Airport massacre, Russia declares war against the United States, as the Ultranationalist leader Vladimir Makarov killed Joseph Allen to start the conflict. During the height of the war, Griffen continued his service with the SAS, reaching the rank of corporal as Wallcroft became squad leader of Bravo Six. When MI6 obtained intel that revealed a mysterious cargo transport in London, Baseplate tasked Bravo Six to intercept the cargo trucks and learn the contents. Working alongside Wallcroft and Marcus Burns, the group stealthily reached the docks before commencing an assault to reach the truck. Finding nothing inside, Bravo Six operates with Bravo Nine to pursue to fleeing Inner Circle.

Fighting to the subway, the Inner Circle hijack a train in their attempt to escape. The teams decided to continue their pursuit in trucks, fighting Makarov's men before Bravo Nine are killed during the firefight. Griffen is then wounded, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and collide into the derailed train. During the derailment, Griffen dies from either being crushed by the vehicle or being slammed into a support beam. Wallcroft and Burns were the only survivors of the derailment, and continued their mission before Makarov's chemical agent was released upon London. Despite his death, the war ended when Task Force 141 and Team Metal performed a joint operation and rescued President Boris Vorshevsky and his daughter from the Ultranationalists.

In Modern Warfare 3, his name is misspelled as "Griffin".
In Modern Warfare Remastered, Griffen makes a brief appearance in "F.N.G.", appearing alongside Captain Price and Wallcroft at the C.Q.B. test.
