Grimm Fauzen is a minor character in the 2014 Japanese dark fantasy light novel series Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World and its 2014 manga adaptation of the same name. More substantially, he appears as the tritagonist of The Love Song of the Sword Devil and The Love Ballad of the Sword Devil, the second and third volumes of the 2015 spin-off series Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Ex. By extension, he is also the tritagonist of the manga adaptation of The Love Song of the Sword Devil.

As a young man, Grimm Fauzen participated in the civil conflict between the Kingdom of Lugunica and a large-scale rebel force called the Demi-Human Alliance. During the war, Fauzen was placed on Zergev Squadron alongside his former squadmate Wilhelm Trias. Throughout the following years, Fauzen participated in many of the war's pivotal conflicts and became a battle-hardened veteran who primarily wielded a shield in battle. He formed a lifelong friendship with Trias, and also met his future wife Carol Remendes. In a particularly brutal engagement, Fauzen's throat was slashed, rendering him mute for the rest of his life.

After the war, Fauzen married Remendes and started a family. Alongside his wife, he entered into the servitude of the House of Astrea, a noble family that Wilhelm's wife Theresia van Astrea was a part of. He spent the next several decades serving the family and played a major formative role in the lives of Wilhelm and Theresia's son Heinkel Astrea and grandson Reinhard van Astrea. Even after Theresia died and Wilhelm left the House of Astrea behind, the elderly Grimm and his wife continued to serve Reinhard.
