Grondoval is the protagonist of the Witchaven series of video games. A knight of Stazhia, he is chosen to defeat the evil witch Illwhyrin and stop her incursion of the Prime Realms of Order through the Veil from the Nether Reaches of Chaos situated on the volcanic island of Char built into her fortress the Witchaven. Following this, he must withstand the vengeance of her sister Cirae-Argoth, who along with the treacherous Argothonian clansmen capture the people of Stazhia, including Grondoval's beloved Princess Elizabeth. The end text of the first game implies he eventually becomes lord of his own kingdom, presumably managing to escape from where he is banished to by Cirae-Argoth in the second game's ending, and defeating the cryptic schemes of the golden dragon Ikethsti.
