Grotusque is a supporting character in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. He was based on a figure from the 1987 toyline.

Marvel Comics[]

Grotusque made his debut in the Headmaster miniseries. He was the leader of the Monsterbots and one of the Autobots who chose to follow Fortress Maximus in his attempt to leave the war on Cybertron and settle on the planet Nebulos. However, the plan went wrong when Scorponok's Decepticons followed them and allied with the corrupt Nebulan faction led by Lord Zarak. When Fortress Maximus and the rest of the Autobot Headmasters were captured by Scorponok, Grotusque was among the remaining Autobots who tried to halt Scorponok and Zarak's takeover of the planet. He led a team to protect the Mercury Gardens from the Decepticons but his group was massacred and Grotusque ordered a retreat with himself and fellow Monsterbots Doublecross and Repugnus as the only survivors, reporting back to acting leader Pointblank.

His only appearance in the main comic came in Issue #41, where he was one of the senior Autobots who accompanied Fortress Maximus to his first meeting with Earth Autobot commander Grimlock and later witnessed the duel between Grimlock and Blaster on the moon. He was probably one of those deactivated in the subsequent ambush by Ratbat's Decepticons.
