|~ Grumpy in Ralph Breaks the Internet|
Grumpy is one of the seven dwarfs and one of the deuteragonists in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Grumpy frequently challenges Doc's authority, claiming to know better. His world-weariness makes him wary of women and girls, believing that if he treats Snow White too kindly she will walk all over him. Nevertheless, he does have a soft spot for her, allowing himself a furtive glance after she kissed him and leading the charge against the Witch.
He was voiced by the late Pinto Colvig, and was now voiced by Corey Burton. In the Japanese dub from the movie, he was voiced by the late Junji Chiba, then the late Takeshi Aono and currently by Atsuyoshi Miyazaki, then he was voiced by Masashi Ebara and Hiroyuki Nishimoto in the TV series, and by the late Ichirō Nagai in the video game.
True to his name, Grumpy lives out his days with a sour deposition. Throughout most of the film, he portrays negative, and even antagonistic traits, such as being overly discourteous, snooty, and sexist. Aside from this, he is perhaps the most capable and competent of the dwarfs. Perhaps for this reason, he seems to resent Doc's position as leader, often doubting Doc's capabilities. He is also notably aggravated with Dopey's antics, Bashful's shyness and Sneezy's extreme sneezes. Though uncompromising, he has a compassionate heart as any, though he rarely confesses. He's also shown to be quite brainy, and rather lion-hearted for the most part. While opinionated, and typically against change, Grumpy's mindset and views are shown to be able to change for the better, though the process for doing so proves to be lengthy.
Grumpy has an extreme distrust for women at the start of the film, believing them to possess black magic and wicked intentions (or "wicked wiles", as he called them). It’s likely that he came to believe this from hearing stories about the evil Queen. Because of his fear, Grumpy initially opposes the other dwarfs' decision to let Snow White stay with them.
Like all the dwarfs, Grumpy obviously has a soft spot for Snow White. However, unlike the others, for most of the film, he strongly denies it. Throughout the movie, the friendship between the two grows, with Snow White being more than aware of it. She even enjoys playfully teasing the stubborn dwarf on his "dislike" towards her. However, at the climax of the film, Grumpy heroically leads the dwarfs on a mission to rescue the princess when the Queen confronts her, showing his care for her in full force. By the finale, he no longer hides his compassionate side and fully embraces any feelings of joy and care towards both Snow White, and the other dwarfs, specifically Doc.
Grumpy is also paranoid as he fears that because Snow White is in the Dwarf's cottage the Queen may be in the house as well. In an earlier scene, Grumpy again shows his paranoia by claiming Snow White's home-made soup is 'Witch's brew'.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Grumpy is one of the seven dwarfs who work at the mine. One day, the Princess named Snow White is befriended by woodland creatures who lead her to a cottage deep in the woods. Finding seven small chairs in the cottage's dining room, Snow White assumes the cottage is the untidy home of seven orphaned children. With the animals' help, she proceeds to clean the place and cook a meal.
As it turns out, the cottage actually belongs to seven adult dwarfs named Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey, who work in a nearby mine. Returning home, they are alarmed to find their cottage clean, and suspect that an intruder has invaded their home. The dwarfs find Snow White upstairs, asleep across three of their beds. Snow White awakes to find the dwarfs at her bedside and introduces herself, and all of the dwarfs eventually welcome her into their home after she offers to clean and cook for them. Snow White keeps house for the dwarfs while they mine for jewels during the day; and at night, they all sing, play music, and dance.
Meanwhile, the Queen creates a poisoned apple that will put whoever eats it into the "Sleeping Death". Using a potion to disguise herself as an old hag, she goes to the cottage while the dwarfs are away. The animals attack her, but Snow White defends her. Unable to warn Snow White, the animals rush off to find the dwarfs.
The dwarfs return with the animals as the Queen leaves the cottage, and give chase, trapping her on a cliff. She tries to roll a boulder onto them, but lightning strikes the cliff before she can do so, causing her to fall to her death.
In their cottage, the dwarfs find Snow White being kept in a deathlike slumber by the poison. Unwilling to bury her out of sight in the ground, they instead place her in a glass coffin trimmed with gold in a clearing in the forest. Together with the woodland creatures, they keep watch over her.
A year later, the prince learns of her eternal sleep and visits her coffin. Saddened by her apparent death, he kisses her, which breaks the spell and awakens her. The dwarfs and animals all rejoice as the Prince takes Snow White to his castle.

Once Upon a Time
Grumpy was originally a dwarf named Dreamy. He hatched from an egg that had fairy dust accidentally spilled onto it by a fairy named Nova. He hatched alongside seven other dwarves: Happy, Doc, Dopey, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, and Stealthy. Immediately after hatching, he was handed his own special pickaxe, which gave him the name 'Dreamy'. He used the pickaxe in order to mine for diamonds, which were ground up into fairy dust.
A year after his hatching, Dreamy saved Nova from trouble by helping turn off a fairy dust machine. Thankful, and besotted, Nova invited him to Firefly Hill to see the fireflies with her. However, he failed to take a hint, and so she left saddened. That night, a sad Dreamy went to a tavern and met Belle, who successfully diagnosed him as lovesick. Dreamy asked Belle what Nova meant about Firefly Hill, and Belle pointed out that Nova must want him to go there with her. Excited, Dreamy rushed off to meet Nova. The two bond over their similarities and fall in love.
Soon after, Dreamy met up with Belle to notify her of his plans to run off with Nova, and convinced her to join a group of adventurers on a quest to slay the Yaoguai. He gave her a bag of fairy dust as a parting gift.
That night, Dreamy planed to run off with Nova, but was stopped by the Blue Fairy, who gave him a choice. Dreamy could ruin both his and Nova's lives, or make Nova happy. Resigned, Dreamy turned down Nova's offer to tun away together, breaks her heart, and returned back to the mines. There, he broke his pickaxe, received a new one, and was renamed Grumpy.
Although he was resolved to stay in the mines, Grumpy was determined to win back Nova's heart, going to the lengths of trading his wages in exchange for a diamond to give to Nova. However, the diamond was stolen, and Grumpy took the blame for its theft and thrown into King George's dungeon. He remained there until Snow White was thrown in alongside him. They escaped together with the help of Stealthy, but Stealthy was killed in the escape. Out of gratitude in helping him escape, the dwarfs took Snow into their home. There, she took a potion that removed her feelings for Prince Charming, giving her a cold personality.
Alarmed at the change, Grumpy lured Snow into an intervention with the help of Jiminy Cricket. This failed, resulting in Snow deciding to kill the Evil Queen. In order to try and reverse the change, Grumpy took her to Rumplestiltskin. Rumplestiltskin proceeded to give Snow an enchanted bow, which never misses its target. Grumpy then returned to the cottage, refusing to help Snow with the murder. Days afterward, Snow returned, having returned to her normal self, and apologized for her actions. When she announced that Charming had been captured by the King George, the dwarfs agreed to help her rescue him.
For the attack, Grumpy enlisted the help of the fairies. Though the attack is successful, the failed to rescue Charming, who was taken captive by the Evil Queen. Snow left to parlay with the Queen for Charming's release. The dwarfs didn't like the idea, and followed her, only to find her body on the ground, having been caught in a sleeping curse. Mournful, the dwarfs build her a glass coffin. In the middle of their mourning, Charming, having escaped from the Evil Queen, arrived and woke Snow with true love's kiss.
Grumpy, Charming, the dwarfs, and Snow continued to fight against the Evil Queen and King George. During Snow and Charming's wedding, Grumpy was in attendance when the Queen stormed in and threatened to take everyone's happiness. During a war meeting to discuss the Queen's dark curse. Grumpy proposed going to war with the Queen, but the Blue Fairy proposed that Geppetto build a magical tree to save Snow from the curse. The curse was cast, and Grumpy, alongside a majority of the other residents of the Enchanted Forest, were brought to Storybrooke with their memories wiped.
Grumpy became Leroy, a notorious drunk working as the hospital janitor. One night, eighteen years after the curse was cast, Leroy got arrested and ends up in jail. There, he met Emma Swan. He is released by Sheriff Graham, who asked him to stay out of trouble. Later, he was at the hospital when a John Dow (Charming) went missing, and he claimed to not have seen anything. When it turned out that Charming had walked out the door, Leroy argued with Walter (Sleepy) that the other person was at fault. At some point, Leroy teamed up with Mary Margaret Blanchard (Snow White) in order to sell candles for Miner's Day, hoping to help Astrid (Nova).
After Swan broke the Dark Curse, Leroy returned to being Grumpy. He reunited with his friends and family, only to be interrupted by Jiminy Cricket, who informed them that a mob was headed to Regina's (the Evil Queen) house. He rushed over to help save her. At the town border, Grumpy and the dwarfs teamed up to figure out what would happen if they left Storybrooke. This resulted in Sneezy (Mr. Clark) loosing his memories and returning to his cursed self. They rushed over to the town, causing a panic in he square. Later, Grumpy and his brothers returned to the mines, hoping to get enough fairy dust to cure Sneezy's amnesia and rescue Swan and Snow using the Mad Hatter's hat.
One day, Grumpy discovered a cavern of diamond's, and went to celebrate their discovery. However, Rumplestiltskin and Regina stole the diamonds in order to prevent the Queen of Hearts from getting to town. Upon discovering the missing diamonds, the dwarfs warned Henry Mills and Ruby of the theft. After Jiminy Cricket's funeral, Grumpy approaches Swan and Snow asking when they will return to the Enchanted Forest, but didn't get an answer. Later, Grumpy, Charming, and Snow confront Hook about Cora's plans. He takes them to his ship, and released Anton the giant, who was enraged by Charming. Once Anton calms down, the dwarfs adopt him as one of their own, giving him a pickaxe and giving him the name Tiny.
They begin to grow beanstalks in order to get beans that allow them to travel between worlds. However, they are stolen and destroyed after some time. As a trigger threatens everybody's safety, the Blue Fairy gives Grumpy a memory potion to cure Sneezy and Belle, who had lost her memories due to Hook pushing her over the town limits. Later, Grumpy joined everyone at the town center, ready to go back to the Enchanted Forest, until Swan and Regina combined magic to save the town. When Peter Pan cast his curse, Grumpy, alongside the rest of Storybrooke were taken back to the Enchanted Forest.
They manifest in Prince Phillip's land, before departing towards Sherwood Forest at the behest of Robin Hood. On their way, a Flying Monkey attacks. Once Snow casts her dark curse, Grumpy, alongside the residents of the Enchanted Forest, are brought back to Storybrooke, not remembering anything since they left the town.
Soon after they return, Doc, Dopey, and Bashful go missing. In order to find the real criminal, Grumpy teamed up with Swan and Regina to lay the blame on Regina for the new curse. At some point, Grumpy took Henry on a fishing trip in order to protect him. Grumpy's memories are returned when Regina kisses Henry on the head. Later, Grumpy helped the Merry Men defend the hospital against an angry Zelena, who easily defeated them. However, Zelena is defeated by Regina, and killed by Rumplestiltskin. This resulted in a time spell, which Swan and Hook stoped. That night, as Grumpy and Sleepy drove home, they encountered Elsa, who froze their car. Grumpy continues to help fight against Ingrid. When Ingrid cast a curse, everyone saw bad in each other, leading to chaos and fights. Grumpy turned to fight Happy and Sleepy. They made up when the curse was stopped. When Isaac Heller rewrote new lives for everyone, Grumpy and the rest of Storybrooke were sent inside his book: Heroes and Villains.
There, he became a lackey of Queen Snow White. He and his brothers set up a trap to catch Isaac, whom they bring to the Queen. He is then sent to hunt down Regina, but are hindered by the Blue Fairy. Angry at their failure, Queen Snow killed Happy and threatened Grumpy. Once Henry fixes reality, everyone is returned to Storybrooke.
Soon after, Zelena used the Apprentice's wand and created a cyclone, which is spotted by Grumpy, who rushed to a diner for shelter. The dwarfs joined the group in the diner and are transported to the Enchanted Forest. There, they are approached by King Arthur, whom they follow to Camelot. When Hook cast a dark curse, Grumpy was sent back to Storybrooke with everyone else, removing everyone's memories once again.
Back at Storybrooke, the dwarfs once more tried to discover what happens when crossing the town lines, which resulted in Dopey becoming a tree. They are then approached by Arthur, who they take to Snow, Charming, and Regina for help. When Swan steals Happy's pickaxe, Grumpy went to Charming to help reign in Swan. Charming failed to offer up a plan, so Grumpy left disappointed. When Hook summons former dark ones, Grumpy goes to find him only to be stopped and caught. He was released when Hook dies, returning the dark ones to the underworld. At some point, Grumpy cures Dopey. He later helps supervise Lady Tremaine's community service. He also helped guard Dr. Jekyll from The Evil Queen (not Regina), but is defeated instantly. When Charming and Snow were put under a sleeping curse, Grumpy helped wake them up by going under a sleeping curse himself, although he woke up shortly after. Grumpy remained in Storybrooke for the remainder of the series.
