You died to (Name of Entity)
~ Guiding Light, if the player dies.

The Guiding Light is the deuteragonist of the 2022 Roblox horror-game Doors.

They are an entity that resides in the Hotel that guides the player through each floor.

Appearance[]

The Guiding Light does not have much of a physical appearance. However, it does emit a blue glow when it is in dark rooms.

Biography[]

The Hotel[]

When the player travels through the Hotel, specifically in dark rooms, the Guiding Light will appear and help the player find doors leading to the next doors. It also lights up any progressive items, such as room keys. During Seek's first and second chase, the Guiding Light will lighten up the spaces to crawl at and the doors to go to. In a Dupe room, the Guiding Light will not lighten up the correct door, even in a dark room, to make the game harder. In Door 50, where you first encounter the Figure, it will highlight the books and the paper on the table.

If the player dies after getting killed by an entity, Guiding Light will provide helpful information for the player about the entity's weakness and how to beat it if it appears near the player's area. It will also provide information on how to deal with two entities at once, such as Rush and Hide (if you died to that combination).

The Mines[]

When the player travels through the Mines, specifically in dark rooms, the Guiding Light will appear and help the player find doors leading to the next doors. It also lights up any progressive items, such as generator fuses. During Seek's first and second chase, the Guiding Light will light up the correct path where to jump, once the player falls down the broken bridge in the Caverns at door 146, Guiding Light will spawn a minecart to save the player, then, Guiding Light will light the correct path on where to turn.

If the player dies after getting killed by an entity, Guiding Light will provide helpful information for the player about the entity's weakness and how to beat it if it appears near the player's area. It will also provide information on how to deal with new entities, such as Giggle and Queen Grumble.

If the player dies to a Glitch Fragment Entity such as RNIUSHCg==, Guiding Light will not know who you died to and apologize.

Trivia[]

  • The Guiding Light has no official name. It was named after the music of the deathscreen, called "Guiding Light".
  • The color of Guiding Light is the same as Halt.
  • The Guiding Light has a counterpart called Curious Light, which appears in The Rooms sub-floor. However, unlike the former, it is less helpful on providing information on the entities in that area.
  • It is widely theorized that the giant statue that is on the left-side of the Courtyard area represents Guiding Light.
  • Before the Hotel+ Update, if you died to Glitch, the Guiding Light would not know who you died to, since Glitch is non-canon.
  • The Guiding Light is responsible for the Rift in Door 100.
  • The Crucifix is influenced by the Guiding Light, as when you use the Crucifix against the entities, it will shine the same light as itself. It will not work in The Rooms, as the Guiding Light is not present in it, most likely due to Rooms being completely separate from Doors.
