Guren "Glen" Ichinose is the anti-heroic tritagonist of the 2012 dark fantasy dystopian manga series, Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign and its 2015 anime adapation of the same name. He is also the titular main protagonist of the prequel light novel and manga series, Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen. He is the Lieutenant Colonel of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.

He is voiced by Yūichi Nakamura (who also voiced Reinhard van Astrea in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, Hawks in My Hero Academia, Basara Toujou in Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha: The Testament of Sister New Devil, Tsukasa Shishio in Dr. Stone, Gray Fullbuster in Fairy Tail, Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind Mumen Rider in One Punch Man, Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Renji Yomo in Tokyo Ghoul, Dwarf Shaman in Goblin Slayer and Sairaorg Bael in the High School DxD franchise) and by Kenji Hamada in Japanese and by Dave Trosko in English.

Appearance[]

A highly attractive young man currently in his early 20s, Guren has earned the affection of many females, especially of those close around him. He is a man of tall height with ear-length black hair, usually seen separated from the middle, and purple-colored irises. In attire, he is the black general uniform of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, consisting of many fourragère and badges earned around, and a pair of white gloves at his hand.

Personality[]

Often displaying the personality of a jerk and showing arrogance, Guren acts stern during his leadership with the Moon Demon Company. Guren shows hatred and looks down on some vampires, such as when he mercilessly disintegrates a common vampire Noin Teta that attacked Yu before questioning whether Yu is stupid upon seeing him displaying a weird expression on his face.

He tends to show his obnoxious attitude, such as when he will suddenly kick and punching Yu casually when his inferior misbehaves towards him as well as being viewed as lazy by many others. During his formative years, Guren embraced a straightforward perspective on life until the arrival of Mahiru Hīragi altered his worldview. Despite being mindful of the societal divisions stemming from their family’s past, Guren's connection with Mahiru became complicated. The enforced separation and scornful treatment he endured, stemming from his position in a less prestigious branch family, engendered a sense of remorse. Guren held himself accountable for his perceived physical and authoritative inadequacies, which hindered him from pursuing his desires during that time for yearning for Mahiru.
