Gus the theatre cat is a former actor and a protagonist in Cats.
In the 1998 film, Gus is portrayed by the late John Mills, who also portrayed William Robinson in Swiss Family Robinson. In the 2019 film, he is portrayed by Ian McKellen, who also portrayed Cogsworth in the 2017 live-action remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
Biography[]
Gus was once an actor, working in the theatre and playing famous roles, such as Firefrorefiddle, the fiend of the Fell, and Growltiger (he eventually plays the Rumpus cat from the 2016 Broadway revival and onwards in the US). However, he is now very old and ill, suffering from palsy which causes his paws to shake, though he still reminisces about the good days of his acting career.

Gus is a thin, elderly long haired cat. He often wears a large coat made from a blanket in most productions, if not all of them.
