Hajime Umemiya is one of the deuteragonists of the action delinquent anime and manga series Wind Breaker. He is the renowned leader of Bofurin, comprised of all the students of Furin High School who have the duty to protect Makochi Town from harm, in which Umemiya is attends as a third-year student . He is the widely to be the most powerful of all the Bofurin students.
He is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura in Japanese and by Aaron Campbell in English.
Appearance[]
Umemiya can be depicted as a handsome young man with white hair parted to the back. He has beautiful blue-colored eyes and a noticeable scar over his left eyebrow. As the leader of the school's faction, he wears a longer version of the standard dark green student uniform with lighter green-colored cuffs with a white T-shirt underneath and a pants of the same colors. His casual cloth is typically just his white T-shirt. A younger Umemiya had black hair and eyebrows. For unspecified reasons, his hairs changed into a white color at the age of 9 when he came to Furinen Orphanage. When reading he wears glasses.
Personality[]
Umemiya generally displays a carefree, friendly, and optimistic demeanor with his subordinates. He is mostly seen caring a smiley expression and easily charms anyone around him. It is common for him to make jokes and surprise other students when he is supposed to have a more serious attitude, especially those who first met him, such as in the case of Haruka Sakura, who had a rather confused and surprised reaction when he first witnessed his cheery attitude, knowing that since he seeks to become the strongest, Umemiya is the one who holds the spot he desires. Unsurprisingly, Umemiya will readily switch to a serious and intimidating attitude as soon as a threats confronts him. His commands can display a bit of intimidation in a few words, such as when he ordered that he will not repeat, when Sakura insisted to fight join a fight with him, but was startled by Umemiya's suden change of mood in his words. Being the strongest, Umemiya is very confident in his abilities. He also has a love for cultivating tomatoes, often spending his times on the rooftop of the high school admiring his vegetables.
