Hal Jordan, also known as Green Lantern or Green Lantern of Sector 2814 is the titular protagonist of the science fiction television series Green Lantern: the Animated Series.
He is a test pilot who was given a Green Lantern Ring by the dying Abin Sur. Due to his immense willpower, the Ring Chose Hal, and he became the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. His team has fought many enemies, namely Atrocitus and Aya.
Ha was voiced by Josh Keaton, who also voiced Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Man.
History[]
Hal's history in the show typically lines up with his comic counterpart. Hal was working as a test pilot for fighter jets under the supervision of his boss and love interest, Carol Ferris. One one of the flights, his plane crash landed on the site of an alien ship, where he came face to face with the dying Abin Sur. When Abin died, his Green Lantern Ring chose Hal, sensing Hal's strong will. After this, Hal was trained b Kilowog to become a member of the the Green Lantern Corps, and he built up a reputation as the superhero Green Lantern.
During his time on Oa, Hal was mentored by fellow Green Lantern Sinestro, whom Hal admired for his rebellious attitude. The two both participated in the battle of Kuhnd, where Hal recounts that Sinestro "stole his thunder."
Personality[]
Hal can be described as a "hot shot" and a "rebel." He doesn't give the Guardian's orders much thought, and he typically breaks them when it is convenient for him. This often causes him to clash with other lanterns, especially with the militant Kilowog.
Hal is often forgetful and disorganized. He frequently forgets to charge his ring and often doesn't think things through, Despite this, Hal is in no way stupid. He is shown to be capable of quick thinking, like when he used the Interceptor's engine to charge his Lantern Ring, or when he came up with a plan to stop the mind jumping assassin Neuraxis.
Being a Green Lantern, Hal's heart is in the right place, and he genuinely strives to protect the galaxy. He is also shown to be sympathetic, as he wanted to help Razor get through his grief over having to kill Aya.
Relationships[]
Kilowog[]
Kilowog is Hal's best friend and former drill-sergeant. They often disagree due to their differing personalities. Hal is laid back and reckless while Kilowog is professional and strict. They often fail to see each other's perspective both on their missions and in day-to-day life. However, they do respect and deeply care about each other, and Kilowog is easily Hal's most trusted ally.
Aya[]
Due to her childlike mentality, Hal is usually kind and understanding towards her. He is almost never angry towards her. Even when she fused with the Anti-Monitor, Hal refused to believe that Aya was truly evil, and if it wasn't for him, Aya likely would have never returned to the side of good.
Razer[]
Despite Razer being a Red Lantern, he and Hal seem to get along. Hal sometimes treats Razer as a teenager and even calls him "the kid", since it is implied that Razer is younger than him. Since Kilowog argues with Razer even more than with Hal, Hal will usually act as the buffer between the two lanterns.
