Hang Kasa is one of two overarching protagonist (alongside Amato) of the BoBoiBoy franchise.
He is an ancient alien who is the original ruler of the Crystal Element and the former friend of Retak'ka, who trained him to use the Elements where he got powers from CrystalBot while Retak'ka obtained GammaBot. After Retak'ka resorted to murdering Elemental rulers and draining their powers, he sealed him within crystal after using Ochobot to take away his powers.
He was voiced by Wong Pak Lin.
History[]
Early life[]
Hang Kasa once became friends with an orphaned Retak'ka on his home of Planet Gugura, a large landfill, where they found CrystalBot and GammaBot respectively. They together learned how to use the elements and became unbeatable in battles.
However, Retak'ka became overcame with greed and resorted to murdering Elemental rulers for their powers, and when he went for his Crystal Element, he resorted to using a special Power Sphere, Ochobot, to take his stolen elemental powers and sealed him in crystal for many years, before retreating to his home in Planet Quabaq.
Defeating Retak'ka[]
BoBoiBoy, Gopal, Papa Zola, his daughter Pipi, Adu Du and Probe go on an expedition to Quabaq after being tasked look for Hang Kasa there. He appears to save them from a Kang Kong ambush after crash landing.
Hang Kasa brings the group to his camp and offers to take BoBoiBoy, Gopal, Adu Du and Probe under his wing to physically prepare them against Retak’ka upon hearing of his return, and how he stole five of his seven Elements while the Zolas went to explore his house, finding many articles of technology and an unorthodox-looking Power Sphere, ButlerBot. However, Gopal doesn’t have enough money to pay for his training fees so he takes back BoBoiBoy's Quake element, which he realises that he had to use to personally face Retak'ka after the Zolas find that Kasa repaired Ochobot's databank, revealing that Koko Ci told them to find him on Quabaq. Hearing this, Hang Kasa tells the group about how he met Retak'ka, who became greedy for more Elemental powers. Retak'ka tells them to gather at a remote forest on Earth.
Hang Kasa brings over CrystalBot to fight Retak'ka, but is overpowered by his Darkwood Vines. Pipi breaks BoBoiBoy and Gopal free using EggaBot, allowing the former to intercept Retak'ka with Blaze. Before Retak’ka finishes off BoBoiBoy with his Darkwood Hammer, Hang Kasa takes the hit for him, insisting that he’ll give BoBoiBoy back his Quake Element, allowing him to stop the rogue Elemental thief for good and take back his powers for good. Gopal finds him merely unconscious, having survived the attack, and the next day, Hang Kasa acknowledges BoBoiBoy, surprised at his survival, as the new master of the elements, and promises that he’ll use them righteously, overjoyed that the elements were ultimately in safe hands.
BoBoiBoy Galaxy Season 2[]
Hang Kasa becomes a regular travelling partner for BoBoiBoy's gang, leading them as his students. He follows BoBoiBoy's gang, Adu Du and Probe to Planet Rimbara, where Kasa narrates the history of King Balakung and his death in the hands of Retak'ka, noting that the planet's landscape started to decline after the murder of King Balakung. He meets his old friend, a tree-like humanoid named Grand Master Gaharum, who was the royal cook for Balakung. BoBoiBoy plans to learn the third-tier of his Leaf Element, Jungle under Kasa's tutelage, having obtained the late king's power through Ochobot. After BoBoiBoy won the cooking competition alongside a young chef named Qually who aims to be Gaharum's apprentice and was rewarded the seeds needed to plant an Oakuat tree for its fruit, to upgrade Thorn on Planet Kadruax, in which its growth had to be sped up with the original Power Sphere of the Leaf Element, PlanterBot, which grants his request after he defeats the Alpha Jumbosaur fusing Solar and Thorn as Sori.
Kasa gets roped into the power struggle of Planet Windara when Gopal gets captured by Maripos and brought there for his knowledge of Retak’ka, to fulfil Kuputeri's request to take back BoBoiBoy's Wind Element. After BoBoiBoy defeats Emperor Reramos, he and the rest of the gang rest at an amusement park there.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Geokinesis: Through CrystalBot, he was able to maintain control over the Earth element as its ruler and first master.
- Crystal Armor: Hang Kasa can manifest a suit of armor wearing CrystalBot. It can come as a full suit of armor, or just a helmet.
- Crystal Shield: Hang Kasa can create a shield made of crystal to deflect attacks and can be thrown forward at enemies.
- Crystal Barrier: Hang Kasa can summon a wall of crystals to protect himself.
- Crystal Prison: Can be used to seal enemies within crystal, which preserves their lifespans as long as they remain sealed.
Trivia[]
- Hang Kasa serves as the Greater-Scope Paragon of the franchise, as he was responsible for BoBoiBoy's ability to access the seven Elements within Ochobot, which in turn led to the formation of his gang.
- His name is a pun on "Hang", a title for noble men in Malaysia, and "angkasa", which means "space" in Malay.
