| ~ Harald enstrusting Elbaph to his sons. |
Harald is a major character in the One Piece franchise. He was the benevolent king of Elbaph and the father of Hajrudin and Loki. He was supposedly murdered by his younger son, which became known as the worst crime committed and led to his imprisonment.
Before his rise to monarchy, he was a mischievous pirate that terrorized the seas 109 years ago until Ida made him see the error of his ways and helped guide him to be a better person. His reputation, in combination with his strength led him to be sought out many times by Rocks D. Xebec, who had encountered him at Mary Geoise.
Personality[]
Harald in the past was a scoundrel who neglected his duties as Elbaph's king, in favor of going around and terrorizing others for fun. He enjoyed picked on those that were practically incapable of defending themselves. He was seen by many as a "lowlife scumbag" who carried a huge ego, with him referring to himself as a god in the world.
This would soon change, however, when he meets Ida, as she would help guide him towards a pacifist nature. In combination with his love for Ida, Harald found himself becoming a much more peaceful man that took his role as king seriously and wanted to establish a united federation with different nations.
Harald loved Ida enough that the two had a son together, Hajrudin. However, his ties to the royal throne prevented them from being married as Ida was a foreigner, forcing Harald to marry a woman of noble descent, Estrid, who would bear his second child, Loki. Despite this tradition, Harald was not one to discriminate others of being foreigner blood, as he loved both of his sons and entrusted them to lead Elbaph to a good future together.
By the end of his life, Harald's pacifist views and idealism earned him the love and respect by many, as he was known for being one that approached solutions through diplomatic means instead of violence and bloodshed. His dislike for violence as a whole led to him ripping his horns out of his head, not to be reminded of the brutal ways his ancestors followed in the past.
It's also for this reason that he refuses to associate himself with Rocks, as the man had grew a reputation for being a violent pirate that terrorized various nations though in spite of this, the two maintained a level of respect for one another, due to their immense strength and influence on others.
