Biography[]
Early Life[]
Henry "Hank" Hall is the son of Judge Irwin Hall and his wife Rae, and was raised in Elmond, Washington, D.C. alongside his brother Donald "Don" Hall.
Becoming Hawk[]
In their teenage years, the Hall brothers received powers from the Lords of Chaos and Order to act avatars of chaos and peace. As Hawk, Hank represented the order's chaos and war aspect, fitting due to his impulsive and aggressive personality while Don was more peaceful and pacifistic. As the superhero duo Hawk and Dove, the two became crimefighters in Elmond, gaining the ire of their father (who wasn't aware that the vigilantes were his sons) while Rae was aware of her son's heroism.
Adventures[]
At some point, Hawk and Dove encountered the Teen Titans while both groups were pursuing a criminal gang, briefly getting into a scuffle with the superhero team until they agreed to work together. Once Loren Jupiter began financing the Titans, the Hall brothers joined them until they left to return to their responsibilities in Elmond. The duo then joined the Titans West, helping the team fight against the supervillain Captain Calamity. Despite success in crimefighting, the brothers retired due to numerous factors - disillusionment with the world, the orders taking their powers and wanting to start their education at college. However, they returned to fight against the Anti-Monitor's plans to change reality.
Once reality was returned to normal, Hank witnessed Don sacrifice himself to save children from a burning building and had him buried to honor him. Without Don anchoring his hot-blooded tendencies and grief-stricken, Hawk became more violent, to the point that the Teen Titans had to calm him down anytime he was close to killing villains. Things changed when a woman named Dawn Granger was chosen to become the next Dove, and Hank initially refused to accept her as his partner. Once he warmed up to her, however, the two became a great team and eventually started dating.
Downfall and Death[]
When the villain Monarch, an oppressive tyrant from the future appeared in the past, Hawk witnessed him murder Dove and proceeded to kill him in response. Removing his mask, Hank saw that he was the future tyrant and decided to claim the title and armor for himself. In reality, the villain Mordru drove Hawk insane to impregnate Dove so he could have a body capable of holding the power of the Lords of Chaos and Order. The actions resulted in the birth of Hank and Dawn's son Hector Hall, who was actually the son of Hawkman and Hawkgirl who was reincarnated into Hawk and DOve's child. He later became a superhero in his own right, and also became the next Doctor Fate, but ultimately passed on from his world to be with Lyta and their son.
Falling into villainy, Hall changed his identity to Extant when he claimed Waverider's powers and worked with Hal Jordan (currently Parallax) to control time itself. His plans were thwarted by superheroes and he fled for the time being, but returned as a nemesis for the Justice Society. Extant met his end when Atom Smasher requested Hourman and Metron to send Hall in the past, causing his death when he replaced Atom Smasher's mother when she died during an airplane crash.
Return[]
During the Blackest Night storyline, Nekron revived dead superheroes by giving them Black Lantern rings and be his army. As a Black Lantern, Hank murdered Dawn sister and new Hawk Holly Granger, but was resurrected to life when hit by white light and became a member of the White Lantern Corps. He returned to his original mantle despite his previous actions, but became event more violent than previously. Hank also met the superhero Deadman, and learned that his brother found peace when asking for Don to be resurrected. Later on, Hawk and Dove joined the Birds of Prey under the leadership of Oracle.
Prime Earth[]
On Prime Earth, most of Hawk's past is kept, with him being a founding members of Hawk and Dove alongside his brother. After Mister Twister killed Don in battle, Hawk's was manipulated into believing that his brother sacrificed himself to save children from a burning building.
