Biography[]
Past[]
Gough was once a member of the Four Knights of Gwyn, serving as the leader of the Dragonslayers, who was renowned for his immense strength with the greatest of all bows, capable of slaying mighty dragons from the sky. Gough's strength and mastery of the bow earned him many accolades and honors from Lord Gwyn, though that did not mean he did not have rivals or enemies who considered him an uncouth giant. One day, Gough lost his sight, as the eye holes in his helmet were filled with resin, but this did not affect his marksmanship in any way.
When Gough traveled to Oolacile, along with Ciaran, he was imprisoned atop one of the towers, right next to the coliseum where the Abyss-possessed Artorias was. There, Gough became a merchant and began to practice a new craft that quickly became his passion - sculpting.
Artorias of the Abyss[]
In the game, Gough acts as a merchant from whom you can buy several useful items, including some that are unique to him. During the first confrontation between the Chosen Undead and the Black Dragon Kalameet, Gough noted that the dragon is a tough opponent for the protagonist, which is unlikely to be dealt with completely by himself. Gough can ultimately decide to help the protagonist with the dragon if the player answers both of his questions "yes". After this, Gough took his great bow in his hand and, despite his blindness, aimed perfectly at the flying Kalameet, seriously wounding him around the wings, which created the perfect opportunity for the Chosen Undead to descend to the dragon and finally deal with him.
After defeating Kalameet, Gough congratulated the protagonist on his victory and as a reward, gave him his great bow, also wishing him all the honors to be bestowed upon him.
Trivia[]
- If you happen to be patient enough to do so, you can kill Kalameet with a greatbow, Gough's or Dragonslayer. If you do so, Gough will say a special dialogue. There are specific spots where you only get hit once by Kalameet's fire, which makes this easier.
