~ Hawkodile in Action Forest. |
Hawkodile is one of the protagonist in Unikitty!, serving as Princess Unikitty's dedicated bodyguard. He is a unique green hawk-crocodile hybrid, embodying a blend of aerial prowess and reptilian strength, making him the primary muscle and protector of the Unikingdom.
Beyond his physical strength, Hawkodile is surprisingly deductive. He is not afraid to question issues and often uses his intelligence, paired with his brute force, to solve problems. His past is rooted in the Action Forest, where he trained alongside his former best friend and rival, Eagleator. Their friendship was severed when Hawkodile was awarded his iconic sunglasses by their sensei, leading to Eagleator's jealous rage and a lasting desire for revenge. Hawkodile's post-fallout vow to never use his abilities to attack shaped his future as a protector.
He is voiced by Roger Craig Smith who voiced Richard, Sonic the Hedgehog and Thomas/Nikolai in Regular Show. In the Latin American dubs, he is voiced by Abraham Vega, Irwin Daayán and Luis Fernando Orozco.
Appearance[]
Hawkodile is a green hawk-crocodile hybrid. He wears a black sunglasses, red boxing gloves and black shorts. He has thick arms with feathers on the shoulders, a dark orange head with a yellow beak that contains teeth, yellow talons feet, a dark orange wings on his back. His belly is ridged, with a slightly lighter green color.
Personality[]
Being the hawk-crocodile hybrid bodyguard of Unikitty, Hawkodile has a complex and multi-faceted personality that belies his tough exterior. He is a blend of stoicism, fierce loyalty, hidden tenderness, and a surprising capacity for wild fun. Despite his physically imposing and rough exterior, Hawkodile consistently displays a calm personality. Far from being mere "dumb muscle," Hawkodile is surprisingly deductive. He is not afraid to question issues that face the others and uses his intelligence, often paired with his brute strength, to get to the bottom of situations when needed. His cunning side allows him to see beyond the obvious, as evidenced by his "Properly Paranoid" moments.
Hawkodile's most significant personal struggle is his inability to admit romantic feelings for Dr. Fox. He prefers to keep these feelings bottled up so tight that they literally manifest physically, causing him to shrink and be "crushed" by his unacknowledged affection. He struggles immensely to "spit it out," even using the "I have this friend" trope to express his emotions. He is undeniably a Blood Knight, possessing a profound love for fighting and training. Hawkodile constantly hones his heavy combat skills in his free time and gets visibly excited when there's something to punch, often exclaiming, "Bodyguard punch! Bodyguard kick! I feel so alive!" Beneath his stoic facade lies a "not so stoic" individual with a wide range of emotions. He can be incredibly emotional, to the point of ironically crying often, and possesses a soft heart that contrasts sharply with his tough exterior. His duality creates a Sugar-and-Ice Personality. His iconic black sunglasses are more than just an accessory; they are integral to his character. He is never seen without them and is literally blinded by natural sunlight if they are removed.
These shades also morph with his emotions, serving as a subtle expressive accessory given his otherwise unrevealed eyes. Hawkodile's dedication to Unikitty is absolute. As her personal bodyguard, threatening Unikitty is a sure-fire way to piss him off, serving as a major berserk button. His loyalty extends to the entire main group, whom he consistently strives to keep safe. His childhood and training in the Action Forest profoundly influenced him. His history with Eagleator, his former best friend and rival, over the sunglasses has left a lasting impact, driving a deep-seated desire to prove himself and perhaps to avoid using his strength for destructive ends after their fallout.
