Hayato Kano is the leader of the Exceedraft team who dons a Tri-Jacket suit to become DraftRedder and the main protagonist of Tokusou Exceedraft. He later gets an upgrade into SyncRedder.
Biography[]
Prior to joining the Rescue Police and being appointed head of Exceedraft, Hayato was an investigator in Interpol. During one incident when Hayato and his partner Hideo Kurita were responding to a hostage crisis, Bill Iwaki, a criminal who was secretly a member of the Red Spade organization, detonated explosives in a building and claimed the life of Hayato's partner. Iwaki was then arrested and claimed to have acted alone, keeping Red Spade's responsibility a secret and leaving Hayato in the dark about their involvement in the crime. Kurita's death would later motivate Hayato to return to Japan and become the leader of the Exceedraft team in order to prevent future crimes like that from occurring.
Hayato and his teammates, Kosaku Muraoka and Ken Okuma, would go on to face many criminals, including the Red Spade gang responsible for Kurita's death and alien outlaw Carlos Togo. One night however, Hayato was visited by a little girl angel named Mika in one of his dreams, who sought the help of the Exceedraft team and would eventually lead them into contact with their greatest enemy, Iwao Daimon. The team's first encounter with Daimon would come when Daimon sent hitman Hitoshi Yuda and a series of Bomb Robots after them. After receiving an upgrade from DraftRedder into SyncRedder, Hayato and his teammates defeated the assassins that were after them, though they were left mystified as to who was the mastermind that had sent them.
Exceedraft would later battle Daimon again when he sent his new creations, the Devil Black Santas, to kill a group of children Mika was attempting to save. Thanks to the efforts of Hayato and his teammates, they were able to stop the Devil Black Santas before they could lay a finger on any of the children. Hayato and his team would finally go to confront Daimon directly when Shunsuke Masaki returned to Japan and enlisted Exceedraft's help in investigating the Daimon Konzern, which he believed was a front for criminal activity. In response to this, Daimon sent his pet dog in the guise of an old man after Exceedraft's communications officer Ai Hyuuga, but Exceedraft and Masaki were able to kill it before it could harm Ai.
Daimon would eventually put in motion his final plan to doom the Earth by creating a giant fireball, and hypnotized Kosaku and Ken to do a suicide attack on Exceedraft's base. Hayato was able to escape with Ai just in time and went to confront Daimon, finding him in a dark realm that also held his friends' bodies and souls. Daimon at first easily fended off SyncRedder until David Akiba came in to assist by holding off Daimon. Hayato was then able to hit Daimon with a powerful blast from Revolback, killing the Devil and undoing all the damage he had caused. While Hayato suffered fatal wounds from the blowback, his friends were all brought back and Hayato was revived as well thanks to Mika and God.
