Hedgie is a supporting character in the science fiction black comedy cartoon Solar Opposites. He is the pet/transportation of Gavin and a close friend of Sofia.
Appearance[]
Hedgie looks how one would expect an African pygmy hedgehog to look. He has tan fur and prominent grey spikes all along his back. He has large ears, two black eyes, and a pink nose. Judging by his scale to the other characters and the environment, he appears to be a runt or an adolescent.
Personality[]
While he is unable to speak, Hedgie displays sapience and personality. In contract to Gavin's pessimism, Hedgie is quite happy and wide-eyed. He is selfless and was completely willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of Gavin and Sofia. He is also extremely loyal and will never leave someone behind. Despite all of this, he also seems to have a lethal side, as he used his spikes to stab a thug attacking Gavin.
Relationships[]
Gavin[]
Gavin and Hedgie have presumably known each other ever since the Wall fell. He is loyal to his master and is willing to fight, kill, and die for him. Hedgie is also affectionate to the human, licking his face like a friendly dog would. While he does love Gavin, he is in know way a pushover, and he's willing to stand up to Gavin if he needs to.
Sofia[]
Hedgie has not known Sophia for as long as Gavin, though that does not make them any less close. When Gavin wanted to leave Sofia, Hedgie refused to go any further until Gavin rescued his friend, proving his undying loyalty to her. He seems to like her more than Gavin in some aspects, as he was willing to giver her "hedgehugs," something Gavin was repeatedly denied.
Trivia[]
- Judging by his appearance, he seems to be an African pygmy hedgehog.
- It is unclear how he is in the Yard, as the show takes place in California and hedgehogs are not native to North America. However, it's possible that he was a discarded pet or that the Solar Opposites brought him there.
