Hefty Smurf is one of the main characters of The Smurfs franchise. He was voiced by Frank Welker and by Gary Basaraba in the 2011 movie and its sequel. In the Japanese dub from the movies, he was voiced by Kenji Nomura.
Character[]
Hefty is considered the sturdiest and the most courageous Smurf of them all who's ready to use his strength to help out his fellow Smurfs. He is easily identified by the heart-with-arrow tattoo on his right upper arm.
He spends his mornings exercising, and his house is full of work-out equipment. Hefty is also the most athletic of the Smurfs, able to climb up tall trees and bring down whatever is up there without much effort.
Role in the Village[]
Hefty mainly carries the heavy load that others Smurfs can't. Hefty is also one of the few Smurfs who will accept any kind of dangerous journey, making him one of the top choices to send out of the Village to retrieve something.
In "Hefty & The Wheelsmurfer", Hefty is bouncing a trampoline until he got a serious leg injury when he got hit by a bird. Hefty cannot walk until 10 or 12 weeks. Handy crafted a "wheelsmurfer" to roll around. He initially refused but he decided to use it. He used the horn to a snake to go after Gargamel.
In "Smurfs: The Lost Village", Hefty was being used for Brainy's research for strength as well being attended by both Smurfette and Clumsy. He and the others are annoyed by Nosey Smurf when declaring it is none of his business. Hefty and the others were playing until they were confronted by Gargamel (who captured Smurfette). They escaped from Gargamel but was came late. Hefty, Brainy, Clumsy and Smurfette later sneaked out to the Forbidden Forest, searching for other Smurf village to warn them about Gargamel. They chased by Gargamel. They found the Smurf (or rather, Smurfettes) and warned them about Gargamel. Papa Smurf tailed their tracks and found them. They were captured by Gargamel in attempt to use them gain magic but was defeated by Smurfette (seemingly sacrifice her life). They attend Smurfette's funeral but until she was restored.
