Heidi (Heidi's Song)

Heidi is the title protagonist of the Hanna-Barbera film Heidi's Song. She is based off her novel counterpart. She is a blonde girl with bangs. Heidi is voiced by Margery Gray in this film.

Heidi is usually barefoot by preference, but she is shown wearing boots at the beginning (where she pulls off one and kicks off the other), in the snow where she chops logs, and shoes and tights when she heads for and stays at the Sessemans', and still has them on when she returns to the mountains.

Plot

Heidi gets dropped off at her loner grandfather's house and makes the best of a hay-loft situation. When he breaks his leg saving her, Heidi takes care of his house, chops logs, and makes him a walking stick. She is then given a black goat kid named Spritz, though she hesitates, thinking he wouldn't want her.

After a while, her former guardian, Aunt Dete, brings her to Frankfurt to live with a wealthy family called the Sessemans, whose villainous housekeepers, Fraulein Rottenmeier and Sebastian, abuse her. However, Heidi makes friends with another servant by the name of Tinette and the disabled girl Klara. Heidi then brings a basket of kittens to Klara as a present, but when this is discovered, Heidi gets locked in a rat-infested basement, where she tries to befriend them, but they all want to kill her.

She is then rescued by Peter and their animal friends, and they take Klara too.

Qualities

Heidi is heroic in that she adopts, by permission, a black goat kid named Spritz, and that she helps take care of her grandfather's house, especially after he breaks his leg saving her from a felled tree... and she even takes care of stray cats at the Sesseman house, helps a couple get together, and gives Klara Sesseman happiness.
