Sweet Hufflepuff from Valley Broad.
~ Sorting hat about Helga.
I'll teach the lot and treat them just the same.
~ Hufflepuff's view, unlike that of the other founders.

Helga Hufflepuff is an only mentioned character in the Wizarding World franchise. She was one of the four founders of Hogwarts who founded the house of Hufflepuff. Helga took all students to her house that the others didn't want. But she was known for valuing traits like loyalty, patience and hard-work.

History[]

Early Life[]

Not much is known about Helga Hufflepuff's early life. Although it's known she is a witch who comes from the broad valleys of Welsh and was born in the tenth century. Her best friend was fellow witch Rowena Ravenclaw. Sometime during her life she became friends with Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin. Together the four friends decided to create a school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Founding Hogwarts and Hufflepuff House[]

United by a common goal, Helga and her friends established Hogwarts School of Witchcraft Wizardry sometime around 993. Helga brought people of different backgrounds together to aid in building the castle. Helga, unlike her co-founders, didn't have equally high demands on which students she accepted. She accepted students into Hufflepuff House whom the other three founders didn't want. She believed all students should be treated equally and that's why she accepted everyone into her house. But she also accepted students who possessed traits that she particularly valued, mainly loyalty, hard-work, patience, fairness, kindness and honesty. Helga was known for her expertise in food-related charms and her recipes are still used in many of Hogwarts feasts. Helga is also the one responsible for the house elves working in the Hogwarts kitchens. She arranged for them to work there so they could have a safer environment and not suffer abuse and mistreatment.

After many years Helga's co-founder Salazar Slytherin proposed a controversial idea in which to prevent muggle-born students to attend Hogwarts, because of ther heritage. Helga, along with Godric and Rowena, strongly opposed this action and the disagreement escalated so much that Salazar eventually left the school and cut ties with the others permanently.

Not much more is known about what happened later in Helga's life, or when and how she died. Helga left a relic behind to her distant descendant Hepzibah Smith. Helga Hufflepuff's cup was later stolen and corrupted by Lord Voldemort into an horcrux. However the cup was later destroyed by Hermione Granger with a basilisk fang in the Chamber of Secrets during the Battle of Howarts.

Personality[]

Helga Hufflepuff was known for being a sweet, warm and kind lady. She was renowned for her compassionate nature and care for all. Helga took in house-elves to work in the Hogwarts kitchen where they could have a nice environment and not be mistreated and abused by their masters. She was also the most tolerant and accepting of all the four founders. As she took in all different kinds of students who didn't meet the high standards of the other founders. She brought people of different backgrounds together to construct the school and overall was a very just, good and humble woman.

Helga was known for favouring loyalty, hard-work, fair play, patience, honesty, kindness and tolerance. She was also known for being especially gifted at food-related charms, and her recipes are still used at Hogwarts today.
