When demon girls are involved, no price is high enough.
~ Helltaker.

The Helltaker is the titular main protagonist of the 2020 indie game of the same name, as well as a major supporting character in its tie-in web comics.

He is a muscular yet unassuming man who, after dreaming of a harem of demon girls, becomes determined to turn his fantasies into reality. He embarks on a journey to the depths of hell itself, where he must confront the most alluring demons in the underworld.

Appearence[]

The Helltaker is depicted as a strong, muscular man who delights in turn-based strategy games and indulging in chocolate pancakes. Throughout his journey through hell, he sports a distinctive attire consisting of a red shirt paired with white suit jacket and pants, complemented by a red flower on his lapel. By the game's conclusion, he trades his suit jacket for a black apron boldly emblazoned with "SATAN" in white as he skillfully prepares pancakes.

Biography[]

The story begins with a rugged, fearless man who embraces challenges head-on. Suddenly driven by an irresistible urge to achieve what others only dream of—surrounding himself with a harem of demon girls—he's been troubled by this dream for some time. Sweating profusely, he realizes it's now or never, dons his best gear, and descends into the Nine Circles of the underworld to confront Hell itself. Thus begins the tale of the legendary Helltaker, who gazes at his reflection and contemplates the risks to his life and eternal soul.

In Hell, he encounters Pandemonica, a weary demon responsible for customer service in Hell. Misunderstood as an assistant, she bears the weight of customer grievances as her punishment. When she asks how she can serve him, Helltaker humbly offers to fetch her coffee, earning her appreciation. This small gesture proves to be the right approach, demonstrating that even demon girls appreciate goodwill.

As Helltaker delves deeper, he meets Modeus, a lustful demon who initially tempts him with desires. Rejecting her advances to pursue his harem dreams, Helltaker avoids being ensnared by her trickery. Modeus, inspired by the demon Asmodeus from theology, is driven by lust, adding to Helltaker's challenges.

Further encounters include Malina, a grumpy demon absorbed in turn-based strategy games, Cerberus, a trio of demon dog triplets, and Zdrada, a fiery demon who challenges Helltaker's harem intentions. The tension between demon siblings Malina and Zdrada escalates, urging Helltaker to intervene.

The journey continues when Helltaker encounters Azazel, a curious angel sent to study the demons of Hell, who is intrigued by Helltaker's intentions, and Justice, a demon impressed by his puzzle-solving skills. The climax arrives when Helltaker confronts Lucifer herself, initially intimidating but swayed by Helltaker's offer of pancakes and the promise of a demon girl harem.

Returning home victorious, Helltaker enjoys peaceful moments with his demon companions, despite the challenges of managing their demonic quirks. Molina's perpetual grumpiness, Zdrada's smoking habits, and Pandemonica's dual nature keep him on his toes. Yet, amidst the chaos, he finds joy in making pancakes and coffee for his newfound family.

However, his journey takes a twist when a menacing entity in Hell challenges Helltaker's attempt to leave. Judgement, a stern demon known for her torture skills, appears, intending to punish Helltaker for trespassing. Despite initial resistance, Helltaker's charm and compliments win over Judgement, who joins his harem.

The story concludes ambiguously, with Helltaker potentially trapped in the abyss with Beelzebub, questioning the reality of his adventures. Whether reality or fiction, the tale of Helltaker and his harem of demon girls leaves a lasting impression, challenging perceptions of Hell and its inhabitants.

In the end, whether Helltaker truly existed or was a figment of Beelzebub's imagination, the journey through Hell and back highlights themes of determination, companionship, and the unexpected joys found in unexpected places—even in Hell itself.
