Biography[]
Events of Amnesia: The Bunker[]
The events of the game begin with Henri taking refuge in a French trench during a heavy assault by the German forces. Henri's fellow soldier and best friend Augustin Lambert, provides Henri will cover fire. The Germans then kill the trenches with gas, although Augustin soon saves Henri by giving him a gas mask.
Sometime after this attack. A superior needs either Henri or Augustin for patrol duty. The two play some sort of dice game, with the loser doing the patrol job. Henri cheats by using a sleight of hand trick, likely using loaded dice. While Augustin is out for patrol, he goes missing, leaving Henri overwhelmed with guilt.
At 9th of July 1916, Henri is sent on a rescue mission in order to find his old friend Augustin, who had gone missing during his patrol duty in no man's land. After finding the latter wounded, lying by a crater, after firing a flare to call for rescue. When Henri enters the crater, he gives Augustin nearby spring water to drink. Unbeknownst to the two, the water had transformative properties, and was a liquid from another dimension that carries the purpose of turning those who drink it into servant harvesters.
Henri somehow pulled Augustin out of the crater and carried him on his back, but the two have to avoid being located by their enemies. Despite trying his best, the Germans spotted Henri and fired at the two. They were nearly hit by a mortar round explosion. Henri was severely wounded, causing him great memory loss.
Although these events are unseen, the strange water gave Augustin near superhuman powers, healing his injuries and giving him the strength to carry Henri back to the French bunker, despite the impossible odds. While Henri was in his comatose state, Augustin had fully transformed into a mutated beast with violent, hedonistic desires. The Beast had systemically killed nearly everyone in the bunker.
Suffering from his amnesia state, Henri awakens and found himself inside the bunker, completely isolated and abandoned. Making his way through the bunker, Henri realized something sinister is after him. Feeling it presence nearby and hunting him, Henry marks his plan to escape the facility and find out memories about his past. He finds the bunker's exit completely blocked, as Henri's superiors selfishly escaped and exploded the exit behind him, trapping their subordinates behind, leaving them to contend with the Beast.
Using his wits, Henri had avoided the Beast and managed to find all the much-needed resources to aid in his escape, including dynamite found in the arsenal and a plunger found in the haunted Roman Tunnels, which were being patrolled by an insane and rambling Toussaint Beaufoy wielding a shotgun. After Henri manages to explode the tunnel's exit, the exit is not revealed. Instead, the exit becomes further covered in rocks and debris, and an underground tunnel leading to an otherworldly arena is discovered.
In the arena, Henri finally enters a showdown with the Beast. He can either manipulate the walkways and trick the Beast into falling into the depths below - which will have the Beast meet his fate at the hands of The Shadow - or he can simply escape without defeating the Beast.
Once Henri leaves the arena, he will finally find his freedom outside the bunker and fall into a water-filled pit with corpses. However, this freedom is short-lived, as a German patrol will close in, ending the game. This leaves Henri's fate ambiguous. If the Beast was not defeated, the creature will simply ignore Henri, and escape into No Man's Land, likely to continue its killing spree.
Personality[]
Henri was a loyal soldier, and also very loyal to his best friend Augustin, doing anything he possibly can to rescue him. He also seemed to be the only person who was genuinely worried about the missing Augustin, while everyone else didn't seem to care. Henri is also shown to be very resourceful, as he was able to survive and outsmart the Beast he was trapped with.
