Henry Gordon Jago is a character from Doctor Who, serving as a supporting character in the serial The Talons of Weng-Chiang, and the deuteragonist of the spin off audio series Jago and Litefoot by Big Finish Productions. A somewhat eccentric and theatrical owner of the Palace Theatre, Jago became involved in strange dealings in his theatre which led him to join the Fourth Doctor, Leela and Professor Litefoot in facing a foe from the future. Afterwards, he and Litefoot became unlikely allies, and investigated bizarre cases threatening 1890s London.
Jago was played by Christopher Benjamin.
Trivia[]
- Both Jago and Litefoot are based on two depictions of Dr Watson from Sherlock Holmes. In Jago's case, he resembles the somewhat blustering version of Watson that 1970s audiences would have been familiar with from Nigel Bruce's performance, as well as others afterwards.
