Henry Henderson is a major character in the Spy × Family franchise.
He's Anya's most reoccurring teacher in Eden Academy, being the history teacher and the housemaster of Dormitory 3, Cecile Hall at Eden Academy. Although strict, he's shown to be a honorable and respectable person and acts as the main tutor figure for Anya, Becky and Damian.
He was voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji in the Japanese version of the anime, (who also voiced Silver Fang in One Punch Man, Cid Highwing in Final Fantasy VII and Hit in Dragon Ball Super) and by Barry Yandell in the English version.
Appearance[]
Henry has long, straight, white hair pulled into a tight ponytail ending just below his shoulders. His hairline is beginning to recede. He has a lengthy, straight, white beard cut in the Imperial style, with no hair on the chin but along the mustache and beard area without connecting to the head hair styled into two long points reaching his collarbone.
Taking into consideration his age, he has noticeable creases and wrinkles on his face, accompanied by small, thin eyes with thin eyebrows right above them. He is seen wearing a monocle on his left eye and usually has a stern expression, although significantly elegant things make him lose composure.
He is normally seen wearing a three-piece suit consisting of a dark jacket with long coattails and striped pants. He accessorizes with a pocket square, a tricolor striped tie, and a cane.
Personality[]
Generally, Henderson is shown to be a rather sophisticated and high-class individual who places a lot of importance on elegance, to the extent it's one of the main criteria he values when evaluating others. He's also a rather disciplined individual who takes a pretty strict approach when teaching his students. On the other hand, Henderson is shown to be very kind and is not afraid to contest the school's authority if he disagrees, showcased when he punched Murdoch Swan in the face after the latter had acted unnecessarily cruel to Anya in her admission interview. Henry also seems to have a soft spot for the Forger Family because of their high etiquette, as he ended up helping them in their admission to Eden by putting them on the waiting list, all the while knowing he'd probably get fired for physically assaulting Swan (although he ended up being just fine in the end). Despite this, Henderson does not treat Anya any different than he does his other students.
Trivia[]
- Despite being a history teacher, Henry is never once seen lecturing in his own classes. Most of his appearances on the series are him filing for other teachers who were absent that day.
- As many fans pointed out, Henderson bears a striking resemblance in appearance and posh personality to Mr. Herriman from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. This is most likely just a coincidence.
- The chair he sits on the cover of Volume 14 is a Robie Chair designed by Frank Lloyd Wright
- Henry has a daughter and son-in-law, whom he frequently writes letters to while at Eden.
- Henry's beard length is 17 cm (6.7 in.) at the longest point.
- His preferred snack during tea time is scones.
