Appearance[]

Hinatsuru is a young lady who stands at an average height and boasts a gracefully curvaceous and slender physique. Her lustrous, flowing black hair is typically tied up in a ponytail, further accentuating her overall charm. The defining feature of her face lies in her big, captivating violet eyes, which possess a unique almond shape. These mesmerizing eyes are adorned with delicate eyelashes and perfectly groomed eyebrows, enhancing her already enchanting appearance. Adding to her allure is a distinct beauty mark that graces the area beneath her left eye, imparting a sense of gentleness and warmth to her countenance.

Hinatsuru adorns herself in an elegant lavender dress that falls just above her knees. The dress features a unique irregular square pattern in a slightly darker shade, adding visual interest to the garment. The dress has a daring plunging neckline, revealing a hint of her alluring cleavage. To accentuate her waist and add a touch of color, she adorns herself with a tightly secured obi in a striking red-violet hue. This obi not only adds a fashionable element to her attire but also serves as a convenient storage space for her trusty kunai. Completing her ensemble, Hinatsuru wears brown fishnet socks that extend up to her mid-thigh, adding a hint of allure and sophistication. She pairs these socks with light-colored sandals, their purple straps beautifully complementing her lavender dress and tying her entire look together.

During a moment of reminiscence, she is also observed donning lengthy fishnet gloves that cover her fingers completely.

Personality[]

Hinatsuru Calming Behaviour

Hinatsuru's calm and gracious disposition.

Hinatsuru stands as the eldest and most mature member among the trio, displaying a personality that closely resembles that of Tanjiro Kamado. Just like him, she exudes kindness, tranquility, and a nurturing nature, even when faced with the mischievous antics between her co-wives. This parallel can be drawn to how Tanjiro handles the playful yet chaotic behavior of Zenitsu and Inosuke.

Hinatsuru's empathetic and composed nature make her a valuable source of emotional support for Tengen, a role that Makio and Suma are unable to fulfill. Despite being only a little older than them, Hinatsuru exhibits a remarkable level of maturity and frequently steps in to resolve conflicts between the two. This was evident when Hinatsuru engaged in a conversation with Makio, discussing Tengen's unconventional lifestyle as a shinobi, which left Makio feeling perplexed.

Despite her typically calm and gentle demeanor, Hinatsuru's anger flared up when she witnessed Suma and Makio engaging in a heated argument while Tengen's life hung in the balance due to Gyutaro's poisonous attack. Furthermore, her irritation was palpable when Obanai belittled Tengen for his relentless pursuit of eliminating the weakest member among the Upper Ranks.

Appearance[]

Makio is a youthful lady with an average stature who possesses a curvaceous physique, complemented by her fair complexion and captivating large golden brown eyes. These mesmerizing eyes are accentuated by long and noticeable eyelashes that grace both her upper and lower lashes. Additionally, she sports thin eyebrows that arch downwards, contributing to her resolute and strong-willed appearance. To complete her overall look, she elegantly ties her black hair, with loose golden-brown bangs cascading gently and framing her face.

Makio can be observed donning a captivating red striped dress that lacks sleeves and gracefully reaches a mid-thigh length. This striking attire not only showcases her alluring cleavage but is also firmly fastened with a black obi that cleverly conceals her hidden arsenal of kunai. Adding to her enigmatic appearance, gray-colored bandages artfully wrap around her calves, extending upward to caress her thighs. Completing her ensemble, she adorns a pair of zōri sandals adorned with vibrant red straps. However, during her distressing period as Daki's captive, the once flawless Makio bears witness to a myriad of wounds, manifested in the form of visible cuts and bruises that mar her once flawless complexion.

Personality[]

Makio Bold Behaviour

Makio kicking Suma in the middle of a fight.

Makio stands out as the most barbaric member among the trio, sharing a striking resemblance to Inosuke Hashibira in terms of her impulsive nature, boisterous demeanor, simplistic mindset, wrathful tendencies, strong-willed approach, audacious attitude, and unwavering confidence in her actions. Among her two fellow wives, Makio often exhibits less patience towards Suma. During the confrontation with Daki's obi in the subterranean cavern, Makio can be observed reprimanding Suma for her condescending behavior. Furthermore, when the three wives eventually reunite, Makio not only slaps Suma but also labels her as an idiot, provoked by insensitive comments about Hinatsuru's potential demise, mirroring Inosuke's behavior towards Zenitsu Agatsuma.

In addition to her headstrong and fierce disposition, Makio possesses a tender side that becomes apparent in her interactions with Tengen. It is evident that she genuinely cares for his well-being as she expresses concern over his diminishing health after their intense confrontation. This concern is further highlighted when she tightly embraces him in a moment of overwhelming relief after witnessing Nezuko's healing abilities successfully revive him.

Appearance[]

Suma is a youthful lady of petite stature, characterized by her shoulder-length ebony locks, a fringe that elegantly frames her face, and a mesmerizing pair of azure eyes. Just like the other spouses of Tengen Uzui, she proudly displays a well-proportioned physique that accentuates her feminine allure.

Suma's attire consists of a stylish, knee-length dress in a captivating shade of blue. The dress, which is sleeveless and showcases a plunging neckline, gracefully reveals a hint of her alluring cleavage. To further enhance her ensemble, Suma opts for a sophisticated gray obi that not only accentuates her waist but also serves as a convenient storage for her trusty kunai. Completing her outfit, she adorns her feet with ankle-length tabi socks in a complementary shade of gray, while her feet are adorned with elegant white zōri featuring delicate blue straps.

Personality[]

Suma Crying Behaviour

Suma crying after Tengen praises her.

Suma, the trio's youngest and most immature member, bears a striking resemblance to Zenitsu Agatsuma in terms of her personality. She possesses a tendency to magnify and embellish her emotions excessively in practically every circumstance she finds herself in. Moreover, when faced with perilous situations, she often exudes a sense of fear and lacks confidence, while also being prone to shedding tears easily. Whether it be receiving praise or merely being in close proximity to a demon, Suma's emotions overwhelm her, causing her to cry. Additionally, her immaturity is demonstrated through her frequent arguments with her two co-wives, with Makio being the primary target of her disputes. Consequently, she has a knack for irritating her companions by becoming fussy or overly emotional.

In spite of these circumstances, she continues to exhibit unwavering loyalty and affection towards her husband, Tengen. Furthermore, she consistently displays her caring nature by looking after those in her vicinity, exemplified by her proactive involvement in the evacuation of Yoshiwara alongside Makio as the battle between the Upper Rank demons and Demon Slayers intensified. Her profound love for Tengen is evident in her actions, particularly when she sets aside her usual shy and self-doubting demeanor to sternly reprimand Nezuko Kamado for prematurely "cremating" her beloved spouse. Additionally, her overwhelming relief is palpable as she wails in joy upon witnessing the eradication of the poison that had plagued Tengen.

Suma with Tengen as Hinatsuru suggests retirement.

In the past, there came a time when they were given instructions by Tengen regarding his personal ideology. According to Tengen, they were to prioritize their own lives first, followed by the well-being of respectable humans, and lastly, Tengen himself. While Hinatsuru accepted this philosophy without hesitation, Makio had her doubts. It conflicted with what they had been taught as kunoichi. However, Hinatsuru assured Makio that Tengen's wishes were what mattered and that it was perfectly acceptable to prioritize self-preservation. This conversation also revealed Hinatsuru's desire for the four of them to retreat from the front lines once they had successfully defeated an Upper Rank demon.

Entertainment District Arc[]

Daki's plan to kill Hinatsuru if anything goes amiss

During the investigation of the Yoshiwara Entertainment District, Suma was given the task of assuming the role of an oiran in the prestigious Tokito House. However, to everyone's surprise, Suma mysteriously vanished and all communication with Tengen Uzui, her contact, was abruptly cut off. In an attempt to gather more information and uncover the truth, Tanjiro arrived at the Tokito House in disguise. It was there that he overheard a rumor circulating within the establishment, stating that Suma had eloped with a wealthy admirer, as documented in her diary. Yet, Tanjiro's instincts immediately kicked in, casting doubt upon this seemingly innocent explanation and suggesting that there might be a more sinister plot at play.

Makio, originally arriving at the district, assumes the role of a courtesan at the renowned Ogimoto House as a part of her undercover mission. Her objective is to collect valuable information regarding the alleged presence of a demon in the area and relay this crucial data back to Tengen, her superior, through the use of crows as messengers. As days go by, Makio's efforts to gather intelligence are suddenly disrupted when she is unexpectedly discovered by Daki, the notorious antagonist, who swiftly captures her with the help of her obi. In an attempt to extract information from Makio regarding the recipient of her secret letters, she is subjected to a grueling interrogation. Unyielding in her loyalty and determination, Makio steadfastly refuses to disclose any details about her mission. As a consequence of her resolute silence, Makio is subsequently taken to Daki's hidden underground hideout and confined within a tightly bound sash, sealing her fate within the clutches of her captor.

Having a hunch that the Entertainment District served as a perfect hideout for demons, Hinatsuru decided to go undercover as an oiran along with her fellow wives. She was assigned to the Kyogoku House, where she soon discovered that the head oiran, Warabihime, was actually a demon. Despite her realization, she found herself unable to take any immediate action against the demon. In a desperate attempt to escape the dangerous situation, Hinatsuru resorted to consuming poison, hoping that it would allow her to be removed from the house. However, her plan backfired as she was given a sash that would swiftly end her life if she displayed any suspicious behavior.

Just as the intensity of the struggle reaches its peak, a resounding thunderous noise reverberates from above the cave, causing the ground to tremble. Suddenly, Tengen, the powerful warrior, bursts through the ceiling with astonishing force. However, just as the Upper Rank seemed to regain strength and shift their attention towards her, Tanjiro swooped in to save her using a powerful combination of Water Breathing and Hinokami Kagura techniques. With determination, she forcefully removed Gyutaro's severed hand from her throat, but he swiftly returned to attack once again. Yet, Tengen intervened by launching a surprise attack from behind, only to be met with a counterattack from the enemy. Amidst the chaos, Daki unexpectedly launched an assault as well. In that moment, the female ninja advised her rescuer not to worry about her safety and instead focus on securing victory. As she prepared to retreat, she discreetly handed him a kunai laced with poison.

Despite their desire to keep them safe, both Suma and Makio convinced Tengen to abandon that idea and instead focus on pursuing the demon. In order to prevent further casualties, Suma and Makio took charge and organized a large-scale evacuation of Yoshiwara as the battle between Tengen and the demon slayers, as well as the siblings Daki and Gyutaro, intensified and became more destructive. Eventually, through the combined efforts of the group, the demons were simultaneously beheaded. Overwhelmed with joy, Suma called out to Hinatsuru, believing that she had passed away, and requested her to briefly come back to witness the successful defeat. However, Makio scolded Suma for entertaining such thoughts.

Despite the fact that the demons have been defeated and killed, Tengen continues to suffer from the effects of Gyutaro's blood. Even after being given an antidote, his life slowly begins to fade away. In the midst of Tengen's impending demise, his wife Suma breaks down in tears, completely distraught by the loss, overpowering Tengen's attempts to utter his final words and causing irritation for Makio and Hinatsuru. Growing tired of Suma's dramatic behavior, Makio decides to punish her by forcefully stuffing rocks into her mouth. Unexpectedly, Nezuko Kamado makes her appearance at this moment and utilizes her Blood Demon Art to engulf Tengen in flames. This act shocks Suma, who scolds Nezuko for prematurely cremating her husband. However, to everyone's astonishment, Tengen is miraculously healed and the poison is completely eradicated from his body. This realization brings a sense of calm to Tengen, and his wives cannot contain their joy and relief as they leap onto him, weeping tears of happiness. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Suma expresses her thanks to Nezuko and Tanjiro for their heroic efforts in saving Tengen's life.

A short while after the intense battle, Obanai Iguro, also known as the Serpent Hashira, emerges onto the scene, bringing with him a sense of accomplishment. He approaches Tengen, seeking to offer his congratulations for successfully defeating Upper Rank Six. However, he makes it evident that compared to the other formidable Upper Ranks, this victory was merely a small feat. Suma, feeling offended by Obanai's dismissive comment, tries to reprimand him but is quickly intimidated by the presence of his intimidating snake companion. Filled with fear, Suma instinctively clings to Tengen for comfort and protection.
