Hjort is a minor character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He is a druid advising Jarl Udalryk an Brokvar of Spikeroog.
Biography[]
As a druid, Hjort was highly respected for his skills among the other druids of Skellige. Some time later, he became an advisor to the Brokvar clan under Agnar, where he met Udarlyk and Aki when they were infants. Unfortunately, the father of both brothers broke the tradition and Aki received the native Brokvar sword, which is passed on to the next generation even though the oldest son should have received it. This made Udalryk furious and decided to ignore his father's will by wanting Aki to give him the family sword Brokvar.
Some time later, both brothers went on a cruise with the ship, but during the trip, a storm broke out and Aki fell into the water and drowned. Despite Udalryk's claims that he was unable to save him as he was busy lashing the ship with the mast, many people doubted his claim and believed that Udalryk had killed his own. It is difficult not to doubt the belief because Udalryk had a huge grudge against his brother and the fact that he was possessed by Hym with ghosts that feed on people who committed a given crime.
Journal entry[]
It is my humble opinion that the most one can learn from staring at the innards of a gutted animal is whether the poor beast was infested with parasites. Nevertheless, Hjort, like many other druids of Skellige, placed a great deal of trust in both haruspicy and chiromancy (and oneiromancy as well, though that's more understandable, dreams being the royal route to one's soul).
Word was that he commanded a great deal of respect and esteem amongst his fellow practitioners, having more than once accurately prophesied the future and interpreted the meaning of obtuse dreams. This druid was devoted to Clan Brokvar with all his heart, and his knowledge and ability made him an excellent advisor, one in whom the jarl of Spikeroog, Udalryk of Clan Brokvar, placed a great deal of trust.
Hjort had tried to alleviate the suffering brought on by his jarl's strange condition, but despite his efforts no progress was made in stopping the decline in Udalryk's mental health.
