A paint can? You think I'm just some regular paint can?! Alright, you don't look like you're from around here, so I'll forgive that comment.

~ Huey
Huey is the main partner to Paper Mario in Paper Mario: Color Splash and plays a similar role to that of Kersti from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and later Olivia from Paper Mario: The Origami King. He resides in the colorful Prism Fountain of Prism Island and joins Mario on his quest to save Prism Island from Black Bowser's nefarious plot to drench the world in black paint, to render it lifeless. Huey's characteristics include his face changing color corresponding to the emotions he experiences: yellow when he is happy, blue when he is sad, red when he is angry, or purple when he is afraid. As a paint can, he has a connection to paint and can get upset when it's wasted or misused. Overall, he is very friendly and cheerful.
Biography
Princess Peach and Toad arrive at Mario's house during a thunderstorm; the latter was happy to see them, but he soon becomes concerned when he noticed that they were looking distressed. Peach gives the strange letter to Mario and when he opens it, it was the form of a color drained Toad, which scares Mario. He sees the stamp and recognizes the Prisma Island symbol and they decide to head there to investigate the ominous events. Huey is first seen after Mario, Peach, and Toad arrive at Prism Island only to find the town square, Port Prisma devoid of people and its famous fountain to be empty when it was supposed to be full of the six colors of the rainbow. During the investigation of these mysterious events, Mario activates the switch that brings Huey to the surface of the paintless fountain. Mario whacks him, which Huey is startled furious at him for waking him up rudely. They quickly apologize to him, and Huey understands the mishap and they each introduce themselves and Huey asks if they would like something to eat. They soon hear Toad screaming from the east side of town and they rush over to where he was and soon see him being attacked by a Slurp Guy (Shy Guy with a straw) who managed to fully drain him of his color and Toad falls lifelessly to the ground without a sound and Mario attacks the Slurp Guy, where Huey teaches him how to use Battle Cards to fight foes and has Mario squeeze him to paper form so he can paint the cards to get them working. After the battle, Huey lets Mario know that he can now use Paint Hammer to fill in colorless spots and restore Toad's lost color, much to the latter's gratitude.
