Hutchins is a minor character in Season 8: Sons of Garmadon in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, as well as a posthumous character in Season 15: Crystalized. He is the Master-at-Arms of Ninjago's Royal Family.
He was voiced by Alan Marriott who also voiced Dareth and Captain Soto in the same series.
History[]
Hutchins first appeared when he arrived at Borg Tower and told the Ninja that the Sons of Garmadon stole an Oni Mask. He invited them to the Royal Palace to protect another mask, the Mask of Deception and revaled that the previous mask was the Mask of Vengance. Later the Sons of Garmadon blow up the palace and the Mask of Deception was appearently destroyed. However, it was a fake, Hutchins gave the real one to Lloyd and Harumi before the palace expoloded.
Personality[]
Hutchins was stern, well-mannered and completely devoted to his job as the bodyguard of the Royal Family. He had shown to have a softer side when it came to Harumi as he was far more attentive to her emotional needs and tried to help her in any way he could. He was also a fan of the ninja and even owned a Kai action figure, which he kept on his pocket.
Trivia[]
- He appeared to have a slight British accent.
- The Ninjago letters on his robe translate to "BG," which could stand for "Body Guard."
- He can incorrectly be seen fighting the ninja in the Temple of Resurrection set animation along with Harumi.
- The robe on Hutchins' Minifigure is notably less detailed.
- Hutchins seems to be the complete opposite of Fenwick from Season 5: Possession. While the ninja are suspicious of Hutchins, although he is actually a protector of the Royal House, the ninja seem to see Fenwick an ally at first, while he is betraying the Cloud Kingdom for Morro and the Ghost Warriors.
- He has the same hair piece as Tommy and Rufus McCallister.
- Dan and Kevin Hageman contemplated having Hutchins return later in season 8 and the ninja would have concluded he was the Quiet One but he would have only been a red herring and that he "would have made a killer ally."
- The show's creators confirmed some more background on Hutchins and the Royal Family would be further explored in "various media". Part of it was revealed in the book Garmadon Rulez!.
- He unknowingly foreshadowed Harumi's betrayal in "The Jade Princess," telling Lloyd, "If you know what's good for you, stay away from her."
