Ibis is a supporting protagonist in the Netflix TV Show The Dragon Prince. He was a Skywing Elf mage who protected the Storm Spire when Zubeia was dying, he's also one of the few elves to see good in humans and helped Callum on how to use Sky Magic.
He was voiced by Ian James Corlett.
Biography[]
Ibis, at one point of his life, became a mage due to how well he used Skywing magic, and would take care of Zubeia after she got ill and Avizandum died and her son Azymondias was apparently as well. Ibis would also protect the Storm Spire during that time.
When Team Zym brought Azymondias to the Storm Spire, Ibis was happy about the Dragon Prince being alive, but told them the unfortunate that they arrived too late. They would then go to see Zubeia, who fell ill and didn't wake up for more than a week.
Soren would then appear in the Storm Spire, and after informing Team Zym that Viren had an army and was coming to get Azymondias, Ibis decided to go to watch where Viren's army was to see how much time they had left. During this, Callum asked if he could teach magic.
Ibis thought he was joking and told Callum that humans couldn't do magic, but Callum uses Fulminis and tells him that he's tired of people telling him that he can't do magic and wanted to learn how to use it better. Ibis then told Callum that the best advice he could give him was to leave the Storm Spire with Azymondias, as they were at risk of dying if they stayed.
Team Zym, however, decided to stay and fight against Viren and his army, with Ezran and Ibis reuniting a group of dragons to fight against the army. After the battle was over, he told them that Zubeia had awaken, so Team Zym and their friends and allies go to see the Dragon Queen. He is seen smiling when she found out that Azymondias was alive and that the conflict between humans, elves, and dragons was now over.
Years later, Ibis took care of Azymondias, making sure he would eat his lunch made of vegetables which the young dragon refused, and after understanding that he couldn't convince him to eat and that Zubeia was coming, Ibis threw the vegetables away and told Zubeia that her son had eaten his lunch.
After Zubeia and Azymondias left to go to Ezran's ceremony, Claudia tried to steal Viren's staff so he could return it to her father, but Ibis appeared and tried to destroy it. Claudia and Ibis have a fight, and during the ceremony Ezran made where he was talking about how violence still existed even in peace, Ibis and Claudia are meant to represent that violence, and after Claudia accidentally stabbed herself during the fight, Ibis told her that despite not being a killer, she was too dangerous to be kept alive.
Ibis then tried to kill Claudia while she was crawling to get the staff, but Terry stabs him with Viren's staff in order to save Claudia, crying out of remorse after that. After Claudia and Terry left, Ibis went to the top of the Storm Spire, where he would use his last breath to send a message to Zubeia about Aaravos' return before dying. Team Zym would then find out about his death, and they make a small ceremony for him and turned Ibis' body into birds. Terry, crying over how he had to kill Ibis to protect Claudia, would later ask Viren how he was able to get through committing horrible actions for those he loved, but Viren told him to get a hold of himself.
Personality[]
Ibis is a loyal elf who is set on protecting the family of Avizandum even at the cost of his life, taking care of Zubeia when she fell ill and telling Callum to leave with Azymondias to protect him. Ibis is also someone who sees humans as good people.
Ibis also doesn't get mad when Callum asked why he didn't have wings, and even is intrigued by the idea that Callum was able to use magic by himself, something which no human has ever done. Overall, Ibis is a loyal and selfless person who is determined to protect those he cares about. Despite this, Ibis knows when someone is too dangerous to be kept alive, as he tried to kill Claudia after it was clear she would not stop until she got Viren's staff.

- Ibis means long-legged bird in Latin.
- Ibis was originaly going to look like an older elf hundreds of years old with similar design to Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
- Ibis apparently knew about Aaravos' existence even though he is never seen finding out about Aaravos nor interacting with him in flashbacks.
- Ibis' death is seen by many as the main reason why the show got rated PG after season 4 released, with it being rated Y-7 before that.
