Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki is a supporting character in the anime/manga Fairy Tail. He is the ace of the Blue Pegasus guild, and is the leader of the team of womanizing men, The Trimens. He kept looking for the missing Fairy Tail members on Tenrou Island during the seven years they were gone.
He is voiced by Shō Hayami in the Japanese version, and Chris Guerrero in the English version.
Appearance[]
Even though Ichiya is 29 years old (36 in the Grand Magic Games), he has many physical features of looking like an old man. He is short man with rectangular face that is distinctively face, he also has large flat nose that is normally seen shining, and prominent cheekbones. His eyes are dark and has thick eyebrows. He also has two pairs of lines pointing towards his nose, he also has some stubble around his mouth with a prominent chin. He has long orange hair that is wavy with spiky strands being kept downwards that cover the sides of his face. He gets the new hairstyle during the incident on Tenrou Island.
Also, along the seven year skip, he develops a simpler attire. He now wears short pants that is losing the dark hems, his jacket is covering a plain shirt which is dark in the lower part, and has dark shoes. It is also shown that he has hairy legs.
Personality[]
As the leader of the Trimens, he is a womanizer like the rest of the group. Unlike the rest of group, he is described as not even being close to being "handsome", although he thinks otherwise, thinking that he is a very handsome man. Despite his looks, the Trimens still call him master and show general respect to him. Most of the other guilds have a low opinion of him because of his intense personality and his obsession with perfume, making him normally sniff the scants of others, showing that he has enhanced smelling. This makes him come off as creepy since he usually sniffs woman. Ichiya usually hits on Erza Scarlet, who is disgusted with him due to them apparently having some sort of history together. He has a strange habit of saying "men" all the time, and calling Erza "my honey".
Ichiya is seen as a coward due to his tendency of running away from a fight whenever he can instead of standing his ground and fighting. However, he was still shown some rare displays of bravery such as going against the Council to save Jellal Fernandes for Erza. Ichiya also shows loyalty to his friends and comrades and cares about them a lot; for example, despite being tied up the whole time, he still showed great dedication to stopping Nirvana for their sake, showed sadness when the Fairy Tail members went missing on Tenrou Island, even searching for them for seven years, and helped Anna Heartfilia control the Christina, refusing to leave her behind. They both put Acnologia in the Time Rift together too, which also saves Jellal.
