Please, let me do it, Colonel, Sir!
~ Duke.

Igor Dukov, also commonly known as Duke, is a minor character in the novel Metro 2035 and a major character in the video game Metro Exodus. He is one of the members of the Spartan Rangers and later the Aurora Crew, who later sided with Sviatoslav Konstantinovich Mel'nikov after betraying the Hanza, who have found out about their criminality behind the scenes, including the pretence of "NATO invasion" and the atrocities they committed. He is one of the few members to join with Miller on a transcontinental journey to the east.

Background[]

History[]

Duke, a young Spartan Ranger, was one of the few survivors of the Battle for D6, along with Artyom, Miller, Letyaga, Stepan, and a slew of others. Duke is one of the Aurora's younger crew members, having recently joined the Rangers as a scout.

He is eager to participate in any operation. He is always the first to volunteer, no matter how dangerous the situation is. Always putting himself to the test and pushing himself to his limits, he is prone to taking risks in order to finish the task. This excursion is the ideal opportunity for Duke to put his skills to the test.

Metro 2035[]

Despite the fact that Duke appears solely in the video game Metro Exodus, his history and some lines of conversation suggest he may be Letyaga from the novel. When Artyom is rescued by the Ranger unit outside of VDNKh during the prologue, Duke indicates that Artyom would be getting some Spartan blood, and Letyaga's comment "We be one blood, thou and I" is recorded in the character section of Artyom's diary.

Metro Exodus[]

Duke will join Artyom on his final mission in the Volga, which is to lower the bridge to allow the Aurora to pass. In the main control room, he and Artyom will face off against Silantius. The number of cultists Artyom kills determines Duke's fate.

Silantius will order his followers to cease their fire if Artyom avoids unnecessary losses, and Duke will join Artyom on the train safely. Silantius will call the alarm if Artyom kills a high number of Fanatics, and Duke will be shot. Artyom has no choice but to abandon Duke and board the train on his own.

Trivia[]

  • Knyaz (Polish: kniaź, książe; Russian: князь; Czech: kníže, kněžka; Serbo-Croatian: кнeз, etc.) is a historical Slavonic title that was used throughout Eastern Europe's mostly Slavic territories, including Poland and Russia. The most popular translations are "lord" or "duke," yet it has evolved to mean "priest" in several languages.
  • Duke has the same blood type as Artyom, AB Rh Positive. His patch, on the other hand, indicates that he is O+.
