Hero Overview

The owner of that throne is long gone, stop guarding an empty seat... how about protecting me, someone who's standing here before you? Arise.
~ Igris accepts to serve Jinwoo as his shadow soldier.

Igris is a supporting character and initially served as the main antagonist of the Job-Change Quest Arc in the novel, manhwa, and anime series Solo Leveling. As Blood-Red Commander (or Igris the Bloodred in the anime), he was the boss of the Job Change Quest Dungeon who guards an empty throne and was assigned to challenge the Player of the System, Sung Jinwoo. After his defeat and Jinwoo was deemed as worthy enough by him, he allowed himself to be revived by hi and joined his side, becoming his first ever named shadow soldier.

Appearance[]

Igris is a tall shadow soldier taking the appearance of a knight like Blood-Red Commander Igris, but of dark and purple color due to being a shadow revived by the power of the Shadow Monarch. His red panaches attached on his head remains the same color as when he was a dungeon boss. He also has a pair of glowing purple eyes with a scar on the left one.

Blood Red Comander Igris[]

As the boss of the Job Change Quest Dungeon, Igris was a fearsome tall knight with menacing white eyes and a shiny armored red body. He also had a cape attached on his shoulder on his back, two daggers, and his main weapon, a heavy large golden sword.

Personality[]

Igris technically expresses nothing else but his gratitude and immense sense of allegiance toward the second Shadow Monarch. Always ready to forward to serve him, he takes his life as a shadow so seriously that he is willing to knee down in front of Jinwoo every single time he comes finishes a battle as well as having the habit to behead his enemies and bring their head to his master. This action also caught the attention of another one of Jinwoo’s shadow, Iron, who began to copy his habits. Furthermore, he also harbors his great sense of love for fights. They both also share the same way of viewing how Iron is often conducting himself on the battlefield, something that bothers them. Igris has also be seen to have a disagreement with Bellion, another shadow soldier, where they discuess about whether Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho should resume his eduction at school or start to training his fighting capacities.

Igris also value innocent lives, such as his action of rescuing a human child from a magic beast during a battle in Japan.

Blood Red Comander Igris[]

Prior to being recruited as Jinwoo's shadow soldier, Igris was a cold and silent magic beast while challenging Jinwoo. He was arrogant while he gained the upper hand over him during the fight, leading him to take his time to land his final blow on Jinwoo while he was sitting on the throne that Igris is guarding, allowing Jinwoo to take him by surprise and win the battle.

Biography[]

Job Change Quest Arc[]

Solo Leveling Anime Episode 11 Picture 5

Blood-Red Commander silently wait for the arrival of the Player of the System.

Challenging the Player of the System[]

Blood-Red Commander Igris is silently waiting inside the throne room of his dungeon for the Player of the System, Sung Jinwoo, to arrive. When the candidate arrived, the knight reveals himself by slowly walking from the pillar he was hiding behind while dragging his large sword. He abruptly charges at Jinwoo with his immense speed. After several occasions of overpowering the hunter, Jinwoo drops his dagger in front of him, prompting the knight to leave all his weapons and gears behind to have a fair fight between each other. Neverthless, even without his gears, Igris uses his brute force and speed to gain the upper hand. Jinwoo is thrown onto the throne that Blood-Red Commander Igris is guarding. As he stands before the hunter sitting exhausted on the throne, the knight uses his power to draw his sword at his hand and attempt to finish the hunter once it for all, but is stopped by Jinwoo's hand that is equipped with his armor. Jinwoo uses his dagger to stab Igris' neck, one of his only unarmored part of his body, and push him across the room, and pin him against the wall, dying and losing the fight against the hunter.

Birth of Igris[]

After coming out as victorious against the boss of the Job Change Quest Dungeon and receiving the "job" of Necromancer, Jinwoo revives the Igris and his knights of the Job Change Quest Dungeon to become his first shadow soldiers. Although, he chose Igris' name to be technically the same, he renamed him to Igris from Blood-Red Commander Igris, a name that he deemed as terrible. As the series progresses, his overall level of power was outmached when the Ant King’s shadow, Beru, joined the army. Igris has eventually gained even more powerful powers with the immense promotion of his master who became the new shadow monarch after Ashborn, now having Igris’ power to skip a few rank, making him a Marshal grade shadow in an instant.

Red Gate Arc[]

Final Battle Arc[]

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Master Swordsman: As the former boss of his dungeon, Igris is a notoriously dangerous fighter, easily slashing through pillars like branches. As his shadow, Igris however reaches his limit against the S-Rank hunter Cha Hae-In, which could be the result of that fact that many shadows are revived with weaker abilities than those they had when they were alive. But when he became a Marshal, he was able to hold on his own against Sillad, the Frost Monarch, which he is able to deflect its attacks.
  • Telekinesis: Blood-Red Commander Igris can draw his sword to his hand with telekinesis. Although, it it unknown whether he can move other objects like this.
  • Master-Hand-to-Hand Combatant: In a fist battle against Jinwoo, Igris easily overpowers Jinwoo, seemingly having much greater close combat experiences despite the hunter's best effort to gain the upper hand. However, when Jinwoo manage to scratch a bit of damage on his armor, Igris went even further to knock him down briefly.
  • Immense Durability: Like his minions, Igris' armored body is very tough, but can still be damaged by Jinwoo strength.

Trivia[]

  • Despite Blood-"Red" Commander Igris' name suggests, his blood itself is not actually a red color, but is rather, like his minions, dark blue, as shown when it leaked out of his body after his death.
  • The throne that Blood-Red Commander was guarding possibly belonged to Ashborn, the original Shadow Monarch.
