Inaho Kaizuka  (界塚 伊奈帆 Kaidzuka Inaho, also spelled as Inaho Kaiduka) is the main protagonist of ALDNOAH.ZERO. He's the younger brother of Yuki Kaizuka and is a soldier of the United Earth Forces. He's an expert soldier and pilot for United Earth and has lead them to many victories against the Vers Empire.

She was voiced by Natsuki Hanae in the Japanese version, and by Max Mittelman in the English dubbed version.

Appearance[]

Inaho is a young teenager of average height often wearing a typical high school uniform of a beige blazer over a white sweater along with a white shirt, red tie, and dark brown pants. When in combat, he wears a standard military uniform of a dark grey suit over his entire body with a dark green brace over his neck.

Personality[]

Inaho is a generally emotionless person, as he always has a rather blank stare look on his face most of the time. He shows traits of a high-functioning autistic child being very intelligent and an expert tactician, but is unable to express emotion and express himself fully. His lack of emotion is a common criticism of him, but despite not being able to express himself, his sister Yuki claims that she can see it.

Background[]

He was born in 1999, at the same time the first war began. His parents lost their lives later, and he and his sister ended up moving to an orphanage, where he would be bullied by some kids there. Later, he would show his intelligence and wit, by setting up a trap that injured his enemies. However, this incident resulted in him and his sister moving out of the orphange to a new apartment paied by the government.

History[]

Before the second war began, he and his sister were having a normal life in a government paid apartment. One morning, Inaho was making breakfast and Yuki woke up late, and she finds out she is late for her work as an instructor for Inaho's school. He then boards a bus with his friends and converses with them on the way to school. Later, Yuki arrives at the school during the drill instruction with the KG-6 Sleipnir Kataphrakts for her brother, his friends, and classmates.

Second Earth-Mars War[]

After school, the Vers Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia arrives on Earth for her diplomatic mission with Earth, and Inaho and his friends are among those attending the parade. Later, he would first witness the attack on the princess's motorcade.

The next day, he is in a phone call with Yuki, who was concerned about her brother still being in the house amidst the conflict. They were talking about his original plan to take a ride in her car, which couldn't be done due to her being on standby. She tells him to follow his gut and make the call. He then tells her that he will take one of the transports that were out on patrol before telling each other to take care and ending the call. Outside, he looks for one of the transports and then notices a mysterious girl pass by; he follows her to under a bridge where she meets with another mysterious strawberry-blonde haired girl. Inaho, wondering if they were foreigners, tries to approach them and let them know of the evacuation. However, unexpectedly, the strawberry-blonde haired girl grabs Inaho's arm and holds him down to the ground, but not without apologizing to him beforehand. Even so, Inaho still remained calm and unaffected and allows her to ask him some questions, including the reason for evacuation; he then goes onto explain, but gets interrupted when he mentions the assassination attempt on Asseylum. The girl explains that the princess was actually alive and that a double took her place in the parade, due to being ill from Earth's gravity. He then contacts Inko, who was aiding in the search for civilians to evacuate.

After taking the girls onto the transport with his friends, he keeps a lookout for more remaining inhabitants, while getting praised by Okisuke, who openly displayed attraction towards the strawberry-blonde haired girl, much to Inko's chagrin.

He would have his first encounter with Slaine Troyard on Tanegashima when battling the Hellas. Inaho boards onto Slaine's Skycarrier and the two team up against the Hellas. They were able to cooperate, albeit a little disagreement on some parts. After the battle, Slaine notices that Asseylum was in the bridge of the UFE Deucalion, and requests that Inaho takes him to her. However, they weren't familiar with each other, and there was miscommunication in the exchange. At one point when Slaine asks Inaho if they were exploiting the princess, Inaho asked if Slaine had a problem with that and shot down Slaine's Skycarrier, resulting in Slaine asking Inaho if he was an enemy before crashing into the ocean; Inaho replied that Slaine was his enemy.

During the assault on Saazbaum's landing castle, Inaho held off the Dioscuria and destroyed its connected components, eventually reducing to only its single form. While Asseylum, protected by Inko and Yuki, made her way to the Aldnoah drive, Inaho engaged Saazbaum in a melee duel, which ended with Inaho's Kataphrakt's head taken off and a strike in the cockpit area of the Dioscuria, resulting in Saazbaum coughing up blood at the impact. Eventually Slaine ends up crashing his Tharsis into both machines, and they both end up in the Aldnoah chamber. Asseylum finds an injured Inaho and tries to help him out of the cockpit. Eventually, Saazbaum shoots her out of nowhere; angered by what Saazbaum did, Slaine repeatedly shoots at him, but not does not kill Saazbaum. Inaho tries to approach Asseylum's injured body, while reminiscing the times they spent together, until Slaine tries to order Inaho at gunpoint to not touch Asseylum. When Slaine calls Inaho "Orange", he tries to return the favor by calling Slaine "Bat" and pointing his gun too, but Slaine manages to take the first shot at Inaho's head.

After making a full recovery in the last 19 months, Inaho's first mission in a long time was supporting Inko and her team against Baron Yacoym's Elysium. Through his new cybernetic eye for analysis of the situation and some thinking and calculations with Physics related concepts, he was able to find a weakness in the Elysium and manages to reach point blank range; Yacoym, initially surprised, then complements Inaho's wit before taking his defeat. After the battle, Inaho worries about how Calm will react to the damaged Sleipnir, and Inko feels relief at seeing Inaho again, hugging him.

Flashbacks show what happened when Yuki and Inko found him possibly dead. They take him back to the Deucalion to try and get him help; however, they could not lift off due to the Aldnoah Drive being offline. When Yuki sees the bookmark she gave him stained with blood, she mourned at the possibility of her brother dying, with Inko crying the loudest at the possible death of her close friend. However, the tears bring some of the blood, which turn out to be Asseylum's, into Inaho's mouth, giving him the Aldnoah activation factor through blood, along with the saliva from when he saved Asseylum through CPR. Because of that, Yuki was able to use her brother's hand to activate the Drive, powering up the Deucalion.

Now, in the present, the Deucalion has launched into space, and Inaho is seen next to Inko listening to a propaganda broadcast made by the false Asseylum. He was able to figure out that this was not the real Asseylum when the one in the broadcast says the same misconception about the blue sky and ocean from diffraction by the large quantities of air and water; he explains to Inko the same thing he told Asseylum what really made the sky blue: Rayleigh scattering.

Inaho and Slaine would have their final duel for the last time. The two clash, until it ends with Slaine taking off the head of Inaho's machine followed by a strike into the abdomen of Slaine's machine, with the impact causing him to cough of blood, which mirrors Saazbaum taking a similar hit during the battle in his landing castle. Slaine smiles as his machine falls and he accepts his defeat; however, Inaho grabs onto the Tharsis and the two descend slowly into the Earth. As Slaine wakes up and crawls on a seashore, Inaho points his gun at Slaine, who then smiles and points to his head, doing the same gesture Saazbaum did back in his landing castle.

Some time after Asseylum activates one of the Aldnoah drives on Earth, Inaho, having discarded his cybernetic eye, visits Slaine in a prison facility, where a chess game was set up and Inaho made his first move. He checks on Slaine's well-being, but the latter was remorseful to the point of wanting to atone through death for his deeds. He angrily snaps at Inaho for sparing his life, until being told that Inaho was asked by Asseylum herself to "save him from the chains of misery". Slaine then becomes emotional and cries, possibly from hearing that Asseylum still cared about his life; Inaho then leaves to give him space. While Asseylum watches the skies with Klancain, she mentions Inaho teaching her about the Earth.

Relationships[]

Slaine Troyard[]

Asseylum Vers Allusia[]

Inaho was the first person that Asseylum met and befriended on Earth. She trusts him enough to reveal her true identity. Much like Slaine did, Inaho would also give her his share of his knowledge about Earth. The two would eventually develop feelings for each other.

Yuki Kaizuka[]

She usually refers to him by the nickname "Nao". They have lived together in a government paid apartment after their parents passed away. She is slightly lazy and carefree, in contrast to his neat and organized lifestyle; even so, they get along well-enough at home. She is also very caring towards her brother and often worries over him. She is very proud of her brother and his ability.
