The Incident Resolvers, also known as Youkai Exterminators, are the main protagonists of Team Shanghai Alice's Touhou Project franchise. It is the title given to several heroines who have in common to investigate and and resolve the Incidents (異変, Jihen?) caused by hostile Youkais in order to maintain peace of Gensokyo and protect people from harm.
Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame are the most prominent and active members who participate in solving every Incidents in Gensokyo. In later installments of the game, other humans/hybrids including Sakuya Izayoi, Sanae Kochiya and Youmu Konpaku joined the cause. There are also some Youkais such as Aya Shameimaru, Reisen Udongein Inaba who occasionally participate in solving Incidents or provide help to the heroines.

- The other characters who frequently appear as the playable character are Sakuya Izayoi (8 games); Youmu Konpaku (7 games); Sanae Kochiya, Aya Shameimaru and Reisen Udongein Inaba (6 games).
- There is an unused character Rin Satsuki who was intended to be the third playable character along with Reimu and Marisa, but the character was deleted due to time restraints of game development.
