The Informant is the overarching protagonist of the Infinity Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is one of the most enduring and also beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the one character to appear throughout most movies and TV shows.
He is a Watcher, an ancient god-like alien being. His role is to chronicle the history of the MCU to his fellow Watchers, something that his ability to exist across space and time allows him to do.
He is played by the late Stan Lee.
Personality
The Informant is show to be kind, caring, gentle and wise, even if a little goofy, such as shown laughing maniacally when he's about to cut Thor's hair.
Powers
- Metamorphic Adaptation: While not employing the use of shapeshifting, the Watcher Informant was able to alter his appearance to look younger if he wanted. Even though he seemed to be an old man in 1943 and in 1995 onwards, he was able to look younger while visiting Camp Lehigh in 1970.
- Immortality: Allegedly, the Watcher Informant appears to be an immortal being, as since 1943 to 2018, the time he spent watching over on Earth, he looked exactly the same (except during his 1970 visit on Camp Lehigh) without apparent signs of aging or fatigue, albeit he admitted on Sakaar that he isn't as steady as he was in the past.
Trivia
- On his car in Avengers Endgame, a sticker saying "Nuff said" is shown, referencing Stan Lee's line in Spider-Man 3. Also the woman next to him is Joan Lee, Stan Lee’s real-life late wife digitally recreated.
- Tony Stark has mistaken him for the late Hugh Hefner and the late Larry King.
