Tensei Ida, formerly known professionally as the Turbo Hero: Ingenium or simply Ingenium, is a minor character in the 2014 Japanese superhero manga series My Hero Academia and its 2016 anime television series adaptation of the same name. He has an expanded role in the 2016 spin-off prequel manga series My Hero Academia: Vigilantes as a supporting character.
Tensei Ida belonged to the Ida Family, a long line of heroes who protected people from harm. As Ingenium, Tensei personified the lineage of the Ida Family, serving as a widely-adored professional hero who's quirk "Engine" allowed him to propel himself forward at frightening speeds because of a pair of exhausts in his elbows.
Ultimately, Ingenium faced the infamous Hero Killer: Stain in battle and was brutally defeated. In the aftermath of the fight, Tensei was paralysed from the waist down, forcing him to retire from hero work. His younger brother Tenya Iida took up the mantle of Ingenium and defeated Stain in his brother's name.
Ingenium is voiced by Masamichi Kitada in the Japanese version of the anime and by Phil Parsons in the English version. Parsons had also voiced Nappa in the Dragon Ball franchise, Kenny Ackerman in Attack on Titan, and Azazel in High School DxD.
