The ink replica of Joey Drew is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Henry Stein) of Bendy and the Dark Revival, the second installment of the Bendy franchise. He's a self-described "memory" of the late founder of Joey Drew Studios which was created in the Cycle under unknown circumstances.
He guides his "daughter", Audrey Drew, throughout the game and reveals the truth about her origins to her, as well as helps her defeat the Ink Demon.
He was voiced by Dave Rivas.
History[]
Backstory[]
Nothing about Ink Joey's background is known other than him coming to existence somewhere after the real Joey Drew's death and having all his memories.
Bendy and the Dark Revival[]
Ink Joey makes his debut in Chapter 3, where he introduces himself to Audrey. He explains that the ink realm they are in is a cycle created with the Gent Corporation and his own pencil, which is a parallel universe untouched by time that began to crumble the same way records do when viewed over and over again. Joey explains to Audrey that someone, that person being Wilson Arch, gained power over the Cycle, stopping it from repeating and creating creatures that Joey himself never even dreamt of. As Audrey asks him why can't he fix everything, Ink Joey proclaims himself to be just "the memory" before teleporting away and revealing the real Joey's grave.
In Chapter 4, he appears to Audrey yet again through teleporting once again. Upon claiming that Audrey has her father's go-getter spirit, she replies that she never met a single member of her family. Ink Joey then decides to show her the truth about her backstory and origins; using his powers to put her consciousness in a replica of the original version of Joey Drew Studios from Bendy and the Ink Machine. He shows her a film about the real Joey Drew; a spiteful, bitter man who lost everything while blaming everyone but himself for it. Above all, the man he blamed the most was Henry Stein, an old friend who helped him found his studio only to leave it due to his controlling nature. He used the Ink Machine to create a new world where he would create a perfect replica of Henry to torment in an endless cycle. However, he eventually reunited with an old employee of his, Allison Pendle, who saw good in him despite all his horrible crimes. She convinced him to become a better man who decided to put a new ink creature in the Cycle, one called Allison Angel, who would give the fake Henry hope. After this, he decided to make himself a family, and after numerous failed attempts, finally created Audrey. Audrey refuses to believe this and angrily orders Joey to end the illusion-like segment and take her back, which he does so.
He then makes his return near the end of Chapter 5, after Audrey fuses with the Ink Demon to create Beast Bendy. Holding the End Tape, he comforts her by telling her he loves her, before being grabbed by the Ink Demon. He taunts him and claims Joey Drew's failure dies here. As he's slowly being crushed in the Ink Demon's hand, Joey claims Audrey needs to have heart before finally being finished off and thrown into a nearby ink pool. His death is what makes Audrey take control over the Ink Demon's body and grab the End Tape needed to defeat him for good.
Quotes[]
“ | This studio is a monument to choosing the wrong road. Now, whether it was built for revenge, or regret, I don't know. That's my riddle to solve. | „ |

“ | Look. Above all, never forget. You're here for a reason, Audrey. There's always a reason. Even when you can't understand it. | „ |
~ Ink Joey. |
“ | Audrey: You made this world. Why can't you fix it? Joey: Because I'm not the man. I'm just... the memory. |

~ Ink Joey revealing he's not the real Joey. |
“ | Once upon a time, Audrey... there was a bitter, old man who had lost just about everything. The real Joey Drew. He blamed everyone but himself for his mistakes, but mostly he blamed his old business partner for abandoning their work, years and years ago. A man by the name of Henry Stein. A great artist, and a good friend. In his anger, Joey used an evil machine to create another world. A world made of paper and ink, where he'd torment his own version of Henry forevermore. But one day, a miracle happened. An angel came into Joey's life. A young woman by the name of Allison Pendle. She didn't visit often, but when she did, she saw something good in Joey no one else could. Including himself. Through their friendship, he began to see the world with better eyes. So one day, in his cartoon cycle of hatred, he gave Henry an angel of his own. To guide him when things were most dark. To always provide hope. It was then, Joey decided to make something new. Something he had always wanted, but he could never have: a family. But not a cartoon one. Something real. And after many, many tries, he created something that made him happier than he ever could have imagined: a wonderful, loving daughter. Bright and kind. Almost human. He created you, Audrey. | „ |

“ | There's always a choice. I know you're in there. Deep behind that evil face, inside somewhere is my little girl. My Audrey. My greatest creation. | „ |
~ Ink Joey comforting Audrey. |
“ | The past doesn't define you. Nor the present. In the end, all those years ago, Joey Drew finally succeeded! He created life! But Audrey, you're so much more than that. You were his family. His daughter. My daughter. And I love you so very much. Remember who you are, Audrey. Remember! | „ |
~ Ditto. |
“ | I know you're in there. You don't have to be this anymore! It's never too late. Just a pencil and a dream... isn't enough! You have to have... heart. | „ |

Trivia[]
- It's unknown if Ink Joey is the real Joey or not. Despite claiming to be just a memory of the real Mr. Drew, he has all of his memories and outright calls himself "[Joey Drew] in the flesh" at one point. It's possible he is a phantom of the Machine, a rare example of a soul slipping away from the ink and being stuck between the human world and the Cycle, which would explain his more ghostly properties such as teleportation. That said, it also contradicts the fact he's explicitly stated to not be the real Joey, who he would be if he was his soul, making it all the more confusing.
- Ink Joey is never actually called this name throughout all of Bendy and the Dark Revival. This is just a nickname used by this wiki to separate him from the real deal.
