~ Iris, in Pokémon White, before leaving to Opelucid Gym |
Iris (Japanese: アイリス), also known as The Girl Who Knows the Hearts of Dragons, is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Black, the eighth and last gym leader of Unova region in Pokémon White, and the Unova Champion in Pokémon Black 2 & White 2.
Appearance[]
Iris is a young, thin black girl with ruby eyes and long deep purple hair, tied back with yellow bangles in thick ponytails that resemble the petals of an iris blossom.
Black & White[]
Iris wears a cream-colored long-sleeved top with a pink collar and cuffs, a pink puffy miniskirt with a slit on the left side and a big ribbon over it. She also has white leggings with yellow-colored ends at the legs, and pink and white yellow-strapped shoes with no socks.
Black 2 & White 2[]
Iris wears royal garments, similar to that of a princess. Her hair is now tied up in a small bun with large spike designs, and she has two rounded ringlets in each sides of her head. Her hair is tied in a bun also tied up in a long ponytail by a yellow bow. She wears a white and pink V-neck long-sleeved princess gown with flowing ribbons and frilly ends and a huge bright pink bow on her waist with a large pink ring to hold it. The gown also is open at the front, exposing Iris' legs and feet. Her sleeves are very large and long with pink cuffs. She wears a small golden crown on her head with two emeralds encrusted within the triangle-shaped sides. On her feet she wears white sandals with a round green gem encrusted in the center of each sandal.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Iris originally came from the Village of Dragon, and now she resides in Opelucid City. She was raised by Drayden as his adoptive granddaughter.
Black & White[]
Iris first appears in Pokémon Black & White. In both versions, she shows up in Castelia City to aid the player (Hilbert/Hilda), Burgh, and Bianca when Bianca's Munna is stolen; during this time, she acts as Bianca's bodyguard.
She later appears in Opelucid City alongside Drayden. She leads the player to Drayden's House. She and Drayden explain to the player about Reshiram and Zekrom. In Black, she will stay at Drayden's House, while in White, she will leave the house to be challenged at the Opelucid Gym.
In Black, she will teach Draco Meteor to the player's Dragon-type Pokémon if they have full friendship. She can be found on the first floor of Drayden's home in Opelucid City.
In White, she is the Gym Leader of Opelucid City's Gym. This Gym is the eighth to be challenged by the player. Trainers who defeat Iris will receive the Legend Badge, along with TM82 (Dragon Tail). She also reappears at N's Castle where she and the other Unova Gym Leaders hold off the Seven Sages. In the summer, she visits Cynthia at Undella Town, as do the other female Gym Leaders and Elite Four members. Prior to the events of Black 2 & White 2, she quit her job as the Gym Leader, giving it to Drayden instead.
Black 2 & White 2[]
In Black 2 and White 2, Iris first appears in Castelia City, helping the player (Nate/Rosa) look for Team Plasma. She later makes another appearance in Opelucid City, but leaves shortly after meeting the player. Iris's primary role in these games is finally revealed to be that of the new Champion, replacing Alder. After training extensively under Drayden, she battled and defeated Alder after he retired as Champion, gaining the title for herself. As a gift for her victory, Drayden gave her new clothes, replacing the clothes she wore in Black & White.

Trivia[]
- It was never explained if Iris is an orphan or if she has parents.

- Iris and Clair are both eighth Gym Leaders in their region and they both use Dragon-type Pokémon. They are also both female.
- Iris, however, can only be battled for the Legend Badge in White, while Clair is battled for the Rising Badge in all Johto Games (Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver).
- Her hair looks like an Emolga (also, she owns one in the anime).
- In Black 2 & White 2, when Iris first appears in Castelia City and when she meets the player in Opelucid City, she wears her civilian outfit, like in Black & White. However, when Iris is revealed to be the new champion of Unova, she wears her champion outfit, with a different hairstyle.
- As the champion, Iris seems to be dressed like a princess. In addition, her hairstyle resembles a Hydreigon.
