She is the overarching protagonist of the Final Destination Bloodlines.
History[]
In 1968, Iris was excited yet apprehensive as she prepared for dinner with Paul at the grand opening of the Skyview Restaurant Tower. Despite her fear of heights, Paul's unwavering encouragement helped her summon the courage to face the towering structure. The couple had managed to secure their spot at the top of the reservation list, but Iris devised a plan to sneak past the waiter and enjoy the exclusive view.
As they ascended, laughter and excitement filled the air. However, joy quickly turned to dread when Iris suddenly felt unwell. A wave of realization crashed over her—she was pregnant. The prospect of motherhood filled her with anxiety, convinced it would forever alter her relationship with Paul. Yet, once at the top, Paul surprised her with a heartfelt proposal. Initially refusing due to her turmoil, Iris's heart swelled when Paul expressed his joy upon learning of her pregnancy. Relieved and elated, she accepted his proposal.
Just as they began to celebrate, disaster struck. A penny dropped from above initiated a catastrophic chain reaction that caused the glass floor to shatter. Panic ensued as patrons screamed and fell to their deaths, with Iris desperately trying to save Paul. Tragically, despite her efforts, he was lost in the chaos. As the mass panic continued, Iris found herself and a young boy as the last survivors, trapped amidst the destruction. In a horrific turn of events, her ring snagged on a piece of rebar, resulting in a gruesome injury as she fell—impaled and lifeless, alongside the boy.
But then, Iris jolted awake, realizing it had all been a premonition. Determined to prevent the impending tragedy, she raced to stop the boy from throwing the penny, extinguished a fire that had started in the kitchen, and used a singer's microphone to alert everyone to evacuate the dance floor. Her quick actions saved lives, but the aftermath was heavy—despite the disaster being averted, Skyview still closed and was eventually demolished. Iris remained unaware that her interference had enraged Death, who had intended for all those present to die that night.
As the years went by, however, tragedy did strike—Paul passed away, leaving Iris alone with their second child, Darlene. Fearing for her daughter’s safety and the lurking menace of Death, Iris decided to isolate herself for their protection. She moved to a remote cabin in the forest, locking herself away for many years, convinced that as long as she lived away from society, her family would remain safe from the grasp of Death’s vengeful retribution.
