Isokaze (磯風, Wind on the Beach?) was a Kagero-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It is the second ship to carry the name after the lead ship from Isokaze-class destroyer.
On 7 April 1945, Isokaze escorted the battleship Yamato from the Inland Sea on her Operation Ten-Go attack on the Allied forces on Okinawa. She was struck by aircraft of Task Force 58 and scuttled by Yukikaze with gunfire 150 miles (280 km) southwest of Nagasaki (30.46°N 128.92°E). Of those on board, 20 were killed and rest were rescued by other ships. Yamato's other escorts, including Hamakaze, Asashimo and Yamato herself, were sunk afterwards, Asashimo losing all hands during the encounter.
Appearance[]
She has long black hair with red tress ribbons and red eyes. Some art makes light on how she essentially looks like a black-haired Murakumo.
She wears a long-sleeved white and blue serafuku with a yellow scarf on top of the standard Kagerou-class pleated skirt, white gloves & socks of different lengths. She dual wields two pistols.
In her remodel, her scarf has been changed to a rope, her thighhigh gains a stripe, the 12.7cm guns have been replaced by heavy AA guns, a radar has been propped behind her head and finally, camo-textures are added to her uniform.
Trivia[]
- Sunk by USN Aircraft on April 7, 1945 while attempting to rescue survivors from the Light Cruiser Yahagi.
- Isokaze's kai represents her historical refitting for AA defense. Possibly done before Operation Ten-Go.
- Her lines are also voiced identically to Saber from the Fate series by the same Voice Actor.
