~ Fujitora on protecting people over fighting crime |
Issho, better known by his alias Fujitora, is a major antagonist in the anime and manga series, One Piece. He is a swordsman that became a Marine Admiral following the time-skip, having fill in one of the vacant spots left behind by Sakazuki and Kuzan, the other being Aramaki. Fujitora has the distinction of being the only known Admiral who's fully benevolent, following "Humane Justice", in which he prioritizes the safety of innocents first and foremost.
In his past, Fujitora was once a head of the military of a nation called Aoi Kingdom until his home was destroyed in a war where Issho is declared as a war criminal. Seeing too much evil atrocities, he self-inflicted his eyes and became blind at some point.
He was initially sent to Dressrosa by Fleet Admiral Sakazuki to assist Donquixote Doflamingo in capturing Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar D. Water Law, but secretly came with the intention of dismantling the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a goal that he would ultimately achieve as well to replace them with Vegapunk's latest technology, the Seraphims (a group of Pacifistas who look like the ex-Warlords when they were kids but having Lunarian's traits).
He is voiced by Ikuya Sawaki in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Charles C. Campbell in the English version of the anime.
Appearance[]
Fujitora is a blind man with only the whites of his eyes showing, though he usually keeps both eyes closed. He has an X-shaped scar centered on the left side of his forehead that stretches over both eyes, which was actually self-inflicted due to his decision to blind himself. He has short dark hair, a mustache, and a beard. He seems to be very tall, a trait shared with other admirals.
Like other admirals, Fujitora sports the standard marine coat with his personal clothes underneath, wearing the coat on his shoulders like a cape with his arms not in the sleeves. His sleeves cuffs are purple. While previous admirals and other high-ranked marines wear the conventional suit and tie underneath their marine coats, Fujitora opts for a light-purple yukata held up with a dark purple belt, all underneath a purple cloak, matching the color in his alias. Fujitora wields a shikomizue (a Japanese swordstick) that doubles as a cane for his blindness, and also wears geta sandals. He has white bandages wrapped around both of his forearms, with handguards on both hands.
Personality[]
As part of his motto "Humane Justice", Fujitora is an honorable and reasonable man, who cares deeply for civilian safety and their well-beings. Due to his blindness, he is unable to judge others by their appearances, but it's also for this reason that he assumes good faith in them, based on their actions and reputation. He is also grateful towards those who help give him aid him, be it friend or foe. Fujitora also loves children when he helped a little girl to get her balloon back with his gravity powers as well smiled for two boys laughing after Doflamingo's defeat.
He and Smoker are close friends due to their common goals, the abolishment of the Seven Warlords system.
Much like a couple of other individals such as Monkey D. Garp, Smoker and Kuzan (Issho's predecessor), he detests the corruption that lies within the World Government and the Celestial Dragons along with them, due to their cruelty and the tactics they use to hide away their crimes. By extent, this applies to their reliance on the Seven Warlords as well, who have done more harm than good for the world. Much like Smoker, Issho hates lies and doesn't want to made as a "hero" for the things he didn't even do. He knew if he informed the Marine HQ before taking actions, the Government would eventually cover the incident up.
Because of this, he is more than willing to go against the orders of his superiors and ally himself with his pirates and criminals if it means putting an end to the World Government's deceit and giving credit properly where it's due. For this reason, he lets Luffy escape with the citizens of Dressrosa, intending to disregarding the Celestial Dragons' safety, and later aids the Revolutionary Army in setting all of the Celestial Dragons' slaves free from their heinous captors in Mary Geosie. He also antagonized his fellow Admiral, Ryokugyu. As such, he doesn't seem bothered to receive punishment by his superiors, such as Akainu, who banned him from returning to any Marine bases, as he would rather stand to his ideals than blindly follow the façade that his superiors try to create.
Abilities and Powers[]
As an Admiral, Fujitora has commands over Vice-Admirals and under ranked marines and low-ranking Government officials. He has the Authority to revoke a Warlord's title before its abolishment (which is Fujitora's goal). He also can summon the Buster Call if any island is deemed to be a threat by pushing the button of Golden Den-Den Mushi. Fujitora has also the authority to fight on one of Four Emperors to aid either Vice-Admirals or CP0 that encountered an Emperor.
Physical Strength[]
Fujitora has immense strength as Luffy acknowledge when he first met. He blocked Luffy's Gear Third Haki imbued punched. He alongside Sengoku, Tsuru, Maynard and Bastille, were able to defeat one of Kaido's three right hand man, Jack The Drought whose bounty worth 1,000,000,000 berries.
Devil Fruit[]
Fujitora ate a paramecia Devil Fruit, Press-Press Fruit and became a gravity human. He can cause gravity pressure. Even bring down a giant meteor from space. In the anime, he also send cannonball fires down to the ocean with his gravitation powers when clashing against Jack. Even for a Marine battleship to float. He also can lift and throw rubble at his enemies. He can lift the ground to chase pirates and criminals.
Swordsmanship[]
Fujitora has a tremendous swordsman with his shikomizue (a cane sword). When he cuts, it does not cause harm by bleeding but causing gravity pressure on his enemies when he place his sword back into his cane to create a giant hole. He also clashes swords equally to Roronoa Zoro, the Straw Hat Pirates' strongest swordsman who was worth 320,000,000 berry.
Haki[]
It was stated that Vice-admirals and higher can use Haki. Fujitora has two Haki (Busushoku and Kenbunshoku)
Busoshoku Haki[]

He can also bypass Logia type devil fruit users even in their substance form such as Sabo who ate the Flame-Flame Fruit (the devil fruit that is originally belong to his brother, Portgas D. Ace).
Kenbunshoku Haki[]
Fujitora has mastery of Kenbunshoku Haki. Despite being blind, he has great reflexes to dodge or block enemies' attack with sword at his own speed, such as an attack from Doflamingo. He also caught Doflamingo's thread, as it attempted to sting him.
Weaknesses[]
His Blindness: Due to attacking his own eyes, Fujitora is blind and is therefore susceptible to falling for deception. He used his shikomizue to tap the ground while walking. Thanks to Kenbunshoku Haki, he can sense anyone's presences.
